Meghan M.S., CCC-SLP joined the staff at Exceptional Childrenâ€™s Center as a Speech-Language Pathologist Clinical Fellow in August 2016 and received her Certificate of Clinical Competence in May 2017. She is also part of the Exceptional Children's Center Feeding Team. She graduated from James Madison University in 2014 with a Bachelorâ€™s of Science degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders and received her Masterâ€™s of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from The University of the District of Columbia in 2016. Her involvement with Operation Smile sparked her interest in becoming a speech-language pathologist as she aspires to become a volunteer speech-language pathologist on one of their volunteer medical missions. Her clinical interests include articulation disorders, craniofacial anomalies, receptive and expressive language delays, oral motor skills and feeding and swallowing needs. She completed her graduate school placements at Rosemount Center in D.C, an early childhood education center, with bilingual children, at her on-campus clinic where she treated children and adults, and at a hospital in the acute care setting. Her externship placements were at a rehabilitation center working with individuals with aphasia and dysphasia, and at a variety of elementary schools in PG County treating children with articulation disorders, receptive and expressive language delays and stuttering difficulties in both a one-on-one and group setting. She has received training in Feeding Therapy: Itâ€™s Not Just About Swallowing, A Three Part Treatment Plan for Oral Placement Therapy, Talk Tools Sensory Motor Approach to Feeding, Autism, AAC, LAMP: Getting Started and PROMPT Level I. Meghan is an active member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds a license for Speech-Language Pathology from the Virginia Department of Health Professions.Â

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Lindsay, M.S., CCC-SLP joined the Exceptional Childrenâ€™s Center team as a Speech Language Pathologist in January 2023. She earned her Bachelorâ€™s of Arts degree in Speech-Language Hearing Sciences from Loyola University Maryland in 2018 and her Masterâ€™s of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Towson University in 2020. Prior to working at ECC, she has worked at multiple private practices in Maryland with children ranging from birth to 18 years of age. She is passionate about treating speech sound disorders, expressive and receptive language disorders and delays, stuttering, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and pediatric feeding disorders. She has completed a variety of continuing education courses including AEIOU Certification for pediatric feeding disorders in 2022, Feeding Matters International Conference for pediatric feeding disorders in 2022, and American Speech-Language Hearing Association Conference in 2021. Lindsay is an active member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds a license to practice Speech-Language Pathology in Virginia and Maryland.
Mental Health
Jennifer MS, OTR/L joined Exceptional Children's Center team as an Occupational Therapist in December 2021. Jen graduated from Towson University with her combined BS/MS in Occupational Therapy in 2015. She recently graduated from George Mason with a graduate certificate in Autism Spectrum Disorder. She first worked at Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute, working with the criminally insane and those with severe mental disorders. She then transitioned to working in an inpatient/outpatient hospital where she worked with individuals from infancy to older adulthood. Jen has worked with pediatric and adult diagnosis including intellectual disability, stroke, amputations, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Downs Syndrome, auditory processing disorder, blindness, social anxiety, apraxia and ADHD to name a few. Jen greatly enjoys doing community involvement with children with disabilities. She feels it is important for those children, as well their parents, to experience being part of a team or activities they once thought unavailable to them due to their disability. In the past she has run a special needs t-ball team, soccer team and swimming group which included children with all types of disabilities. Jen went through a long two year process including numerous interview and training to obtain a facility dog from Canine Companions for Independence. She obtained Nevada, facility dog, in 2019 and he has helped numerous children since that time, working alongside her in the clinic as well as with community activities. When not in the clinic Jen enjoys gardening, hiking with Nevada and her husband and painting ceramics. Jen holds an active license to practice as an occupational therapist in Virginia.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy is a form of intervention in which the therapist and child work to develop or improve the necessary skills for daily living through activity. Therapy can target skills needed for coordination, school readiness and performance, self help such as feeding, dressing and grooming, focus and attention, play/social interaction, eye-hand coordination, calming, regulatory behaviors and more. We use a variety of treatment approaches, one of which is sensory integration. Sensory Integration is the ability of the brain and body to take incoming sensory information and create an efficient motor output. Your therapist will develop appropriate home programming and family education in addition to direct treatment of your child.
