As one of Hull's leading providers of commercial pest control, Elite has dedicated years to developing our pest control in Hull to rid pests in commercial and industrial settings. Our custom pest prevention and control solutions will not only eradicate the pests efficiently, but also and more crucially, prevent them from coming back to your place of business.
Ants are social insects that live together in colonies and form self-contained communities. In each community there are three castes, namely queens, males and workers. Ants usually nest in garden areas but also frequently build their nests in the insulation layers of houses and from there they penetrate up into the house itself through the cracks which inevitably appear in the concrete and cement. When foraging worker ants get into the house it will soon be seen that they are particularly attracted to sweet substances, such as drops of jam or scraps of cake. As soon as one ant has found the food source, he then returns to the nest at the same time laying a pheromone (scent) trail, once back at the nest the ant can communicate with the other ants by tapping them with it's antennae and also by feeding them with some of the contents of it's crop. The next thing you know the whole nest is at the site where you dropped that sugary sweet.
Bed Bugs
We cover all aspects of pests and vermin including mice and rat control, wasp nest removal, insect infestations, bird control and bed bug control. Rather than simply providing our pest control services in a situation that is reactive (ie. eradicating pests only when they've already established themselves as a problem and caused issues) Elite pest control offers an on going service that is preventative to pest control in Hull. We work relentlessly so that pests will not cause further problems or re-enter your home or business's premises. All of our exterminator services, including those for domestic & commercial, start by thoroughly inspecting the premises and informing you of issues or areas for potential pest removal situations. Our Hull pest control team then presents you with options to deal with the situation, and eradicate any potential problems.
Fleas
Flea larvae feed on debris and adult flea droppings. Adult fleas feed sole on vertebrate blood. Approx 1/8-inch-long, fleas have no wings and are laterally flattened and possess piercing and sucking mouthparts. Adult fleas have well developed legs which allow it to jump up to 6 inches in height. Their colouring is typically black to reddish-brown. The total lifecycle of the flea consists of just four weeks during the summer months. Their bites will cause an intense irritation centred around a bright red lump on the skin. People's reactions differ massively to a bite, both in terms of time taken to react and degree of reaction – hence the need for flea treatment and flea pest control services.
Cockroaches
Cockroaches are largely tropical (warm-loving), night-time scavengers, that feed on dead animal matter in the wild. Many species living in Britain are introduced, and find suitable living conditions in warehouses, breweries, bakeries, and kitchens. In fact Cockroaches are common in most commercial premises associated with the production or handling of food. Also in domestic premises and public buildings e.g. blocks of flats. Nocturnal and very gregarious, they spend most the day hiding in crevices and crack around areas such as sinks, drains, cookers, the backs of cupboards and in refrigerator motor compartments. They particularly like premises that have complicated plumbing installations and service ducts. Cockroach infestations are typically introduced as egg cases or adults in incoming laundry, in crates and packaging, on raw materials, or arise as the insects enter buildings via such routes as drains or refuse chutes.
Bees
This is a Bumble Bee and is not considered a pest. Check the markings on the pests in or around your property to identify the problem as bees, hornets and wasps can be easily confused.
Wasps
Wasps usually nest in underground sites, often in wall cavities and roof spaces. The nest is roughly spherical and covered with shell-like lobes of paper. Made from fairly rotten wood, the paper tends to be yellow and quite brittle. An average full size nest can hold up to 5,000 individual wasps, female wasps are the stingers and each wasp can sting at a rate of 15 stings per minute. Nearly all the wasps in the nest are workers, smaller than the queen, but otherwise very similar. They collect food and building materials and do all the work in the nest. Adults eat nectar, fruit, and other sweet things, but the grubs are reared on animal food - especially other insects.
Moles are very common and wide spread across Britain and although they are rarely seen due to the fact they live most of their lives underground in tunnels they can become a very awkward pest to remove form a garden or landscaped area. Moles have evolved to be highly adapted for their underground tunnelling way of life. A mole can dig its way through an astonishing 14 metres of earth within just one hour. Moles feed, sleep and breed in their tunnels. They occasionally appear above ground level at the top of one of their characteristic molehills, and even then usually only the head and pink fleshy star shaped snout is visible. On lawns and landscaped areas, the area disfigured by the molehill stops the grass from growing and will allow weeds to grow more freely. Where they have been digging beneath agricultural land it can stunt the growth of the crop or even destroy it.
The most common bird problems in Hull are caused by pigeons. Pigeon waste not only erodes certain surfaces it also looks terrible on cars, buildings and garden furniture.
Pigeons
More importantly pigeons carry a wide range of diseases like histoplasmosis, salmonella, cryptococcosis, ornithosis, toxoplasmosis, Newcastle disease and encephalitis. Looking at this list it is easy to understand why professional Pigeon control is so important.
Squirrels belong to the most widespread and successful order in the world, rodents. Every species of rodents is a gnawing animal. Squirrels are no exception and have well-developed jaw muscles and front teeth shaped like chisels that can chew through just about anything. These front teeth are kept sharp by constantly gnawing on hard objects such as seeds and nuts and woody plant materials. When squirrels cause problems, the methods used to solve them must be specific to the problem at hand. Squirrels can cause a wide variety of problems. Therefore, there is no one squirrel-control method that is appropriate for every problem that might arise. The grey squirrel builds itself a nest, or drey, about the size of a football, made of twigs, often with the leaves still attached. It is typically built high up in a tree and lined with shredded bark, dry grass, feathers and moss. A summer drey is often quite weak and wedged neatly among branches. Occasionally a squirrel may make its nest in a hollowed out tree trunk or take over an old rook's nest after constructing a roof for it. A squirrel is capable of building several dreys.
Mice
Rats
They are among the most prolific of all mammals. If food and shelter are available, rats will breed all year. Litters range in size from 6 to 22 young, but usually average 7 to 9. A single female may give birth to as many as 12 litters in a year. Rats will consume almost anything, but cereals form a substantial part of their diet. The UK official National Rodent Survey found a 2003 UK population of 60 million brown rats, about equal to the UK human population; winters in Britain are much warmer, making rat survival higher. Brown rats in cities tend not to wander extensively, often staying within 20 meters (65 ft) of their nest if a suitable concentrated food supply is available, but they will range more widely where food availability is lower. Their diet includes meat, fish, vegetables, weeds, earthworms, crustaceans, nuts and fruit. They sometimes cache food to return to later.
Squirrels
Generally speaking red squirrels are not considered pests but its cousin the grey squirrel definitely is. Grey Squirrels often inhabit attics, lofts, roof spaces and outbuildings. Signs that they are present will include droppings and scratching noises. These can often be mistaken for rat droppings. Because of this, it is important that a qualified technician identifies which pest is responsible. Grey squirrels are not thought to carry human diseases but can give a painful bite if they are startled suddenly. They can also pass on fleas to household pets such as cats and dogs. It is highly recommended that a professional squirrel catcher is used to trap the squirrel if one is discovered in your premises.
