Teeth Cleaning
Routine dental cleanings and exams twice per year are the cornerstone of maintaining optimum dental health; however, frequencies can vary depending on an individual’s oral health.
Fluoride Treatment
We offer fluoride treatments which contain a higher strength of fluoride than what is available in over-the-counter products. Fluoride treatments in our office can come in the form of foams that are placed in a tray, varnishes that are painted onto the teeth or gels that can be administered by painting them on the teeth.
Dental Sealants
Dental sealants have become a popular tool in children’s overall preventive dental care. They are a preventative measure to fight tooth decay on the chewing surfaces of the permanent molars. This thin plastic coating is applied to the chewing surfaces of the teeth, light cured, rinsed and dried creating a protective barrier against tooth decay.

Fillings
Tooth-colored fillings are a more cosmetic alternative to the traditional amalgam fillings many patients are familiar with. They are natural looking and provide an attractive restoration that will last for many years. These composite fillings can be used to restore broken and decayed teeth and replace defective metal fillings. They are superior to metal fillings because they are made of a composite material that does not contain mercury, are bonded in place and do not expand and contract due to temperature changes. Finally, they are preferred by patients because they are virtually invisible.
Resin Composite
The process begins with matching a composite resin material to the color of your natural teeth. Dr. Summers roughens the surface of the tooth before a bonding liquid is applied. The soft composite resin is placed on the tooth and a curing light is projected onto the bonded area activating the hardening process. After shaping and polishing, the bonded tooth looks completely natural.
Veneers
Veneers consist of ultra-thin, customized strips of porcelain bonded directly to the surface of the natural teeth to correct noticeable flaws such as uneven surfaces, crooked, chipped, cracked and discolored teeth. They can restore your smile by giving a fresh new look to old, worn down teeth.
Crowns
We are proud to offer the latest in dental technology, with Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics, more commonly referred to as CEREC crowns. Since we have invested in CEREC technology, wearing temporary crowns while waiting for custom-made, permanent crowns to be created in a laboratory is no longer necessary. Our patients can now get long-lasting and durable CEREC crowns in just one dental visit. Our commitment to the continued use of state-of-the-art software and equipment makes this possible for our patients.
Bridges
Although several types of dental bridges are available, the most commonly used is the traditional bridge consisting of an artificial tooth attached to two or more crowns. A personalized consultation will allow Dr. Summers and our highly trained team to determine what type of bridge will address your dental concerns.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is a tooth-colored resin used for several purposes including filling cavities, closing gaps between teeth and protecting roots of teeth. Bonding also can be used to cosmetically cover discolored and otherwise unattractive teeth.
Restorative Dentistry
Restorative dentistry involves the diagnosis and treatment of dental problems that may affect your overall health and smile. This includes the repair of broken, infected or otherwise damaged teeth. Dr. Summers serves as the primary dental provider for his patients in managing their oral health care needs and coordinating treatment with specialists when necessary.

Root Canal Treatment
A root canal is performed to preserve the structure of the tooth while removing infection. A root canal is recommended if a tooth’s pulp becomes diseased, inflamed or otherwise abscessed. Dr. Summers then restores the tooth’s shape and size by placing a customized porcelain CEREC crown over the top area of the tooth to match the color of your surrounding teeth and contour of your mouth for a natural and comfortable fit. Regardless of how the pulp became infected, we have the state-of-the-art technology and experienced team to provide relief in one dental visit.

Dentures
Dentures/partials are removable appliances that are designed to replace and restore the function of missing teeth held in place by the surrounding soft and hard tissues of your mouth. We can customize a set of partial or full dentures by taking a series of impressions of your jaw to obtain precise measurements. These measurements will be used to design accurate models for your dentures. Following these models, try-in appointments are made to allow us to determine the best fit, function and appearance for you. Upon your approval, the final dentures will be made and adjustments will be made as necessary.

Dental Implants
By replacing missing tooth roots, dental implants provide patients with long-term strength and dental stability. Additionally, dental implants stimulate and maintain jawbone, preventing bone loss and helping to maintain facial features.

She joined her father, Dr. Bill Mills, in practice at Upstate Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at North Grove Medical Park. When not caring for their patients, Drs. Josh and Laura Summers enjoy the outdoors, cooking and spending time with their precious daughters Elliot and Ann Palmer, son Warren and dog Winston. Dr. Summers is an avid ice hockey fan and enjoys competing in a Greenville men’s ice hockey league as goalie for his team.

Invisalign Orthodontics
Invisalign/Clear Correct improves the alignment of your teeth through a series of custom-made, clear dental aligners designed to address crowding, spacing, rotations and other limited orthodontic issues. These aligners are removable, comfortable and virtually invisible. The process begins with x-rays, photographs and impressions or digital scans of your teeth which will be used by Invisalign/Clear Correct to create a digital 3-D image of your teeth. These images enable us to create the treatment plan best suited for you, as well as an approximate length of treatment. Born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, Dr. Summers made his way to South Carolina to attend Clemson University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Clemson in 2003. Following his graduation from the College of Dental Medicine at the Medical University of South Carolina in 2007, he continued his education by completing a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry Residency at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. The residency expanded his knowledge and experience in comprehensive and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Summers credits this course of study for fueling his passion to excel in the clinical practice of cosmetic and restorative dentistry.
