Standard Energy Corporation s principal activity is to acquire unproven oil and gas leaseholds and resell the same to third parties. The company has acquired federal oil and gas leaseholds through the Bureau of Land Management's leasing program. It also obtains leases through purchases in competitive bidding programs offered by various state agencies, principally the states of Utah and Wyoming. The company provides a variety of geologic lease evaluation services through its wholly owned subsidiary, Petroleum Investment Company. Oil and gas exploration and production typically account for more than 80 percent of revenues while oil and gas information services account for nearly 20 percent. Standard Energy Corporation is headquartered in Salt Lake City.
