Kabuki Japanese Restaurant

The sushi was actually pretty good, this was our 5th time dining here and unfortunately we always get the same woman in which we can hardly make out what she is saying, plus she takes 15 minutes to even get our drink order then another 10 to bring them out and after we give her our food order we never see her again, until she places our food on the table (it can be up to an hour to ever get your rolls), which is when we ask for refills or extra plates, etc. let's not even get into how long that takes. I thought it would improve and had high hopes of new staff but I now see that there is a high turnover in waitstaff and she seems to be the only one they keep. (why is unknown, I will complain next time). There needs to be a serious clean out I have never had such consistantly bad service from one staff member, we can't even find an excuse since it has been EVERYTIME! The food is always good especially for the price but we are now getting served on plastic and paper products, it is quite tacky. I know it is a casual dining restaurant but.. I think they may be taking it to the extremes. I would be embarrased that I allowed my food to leave the kitchen like that, we are talking sushi, not hot dogs and hamburgers and saying I would like some fries with that. I hope the owners open thier eyes to the staff problem and presentation. I will probably continue to dine hear for now, as to be honest I just don't feel like driving to SB for better service when the food is pretty closein comparison.

I had my second dining experience this week at Kabuki Sushi in Solvang and was not at all happy with the service. The food was not bad and I liked some of the sushi rolls and the sushi sampler menu, but we were not taken care of by the staff and left waiting for long periods of time without drinks, appetizers, or menus for that matter. After sitting at a table for 10 minutes we were told we had to go and get our own menus and order at the counter. This was not the case the last time I went to this restaurant, so some instruction would have been nice when we got there. They also used paper Dixie cups for tea, paper hotdog plates for the sushi rolls and all disposable dishware which was at the least, extremely tacky. I asked about the paper-ware and had a rude lady tell me something about a fine of 30,000 dollars as she walked past our table without stopping.

Overall the food here is not too bad. I do not however, think it is much better than the cheaper Sushi Teri in Goleta and Lompoc. The service needs a clean-up job. I give it one extra star only for the food, but the service gets one and only one star.

I took my husband here for hid birthday dinner because he loves sushi, BIG MISTAKE! The food took over 2 hours to arrive, we were very rarely checked on. Our order was "lost" we had to reorder and wait and wait. The waitress offered to comp us some gyoza to alleviate some of the hunger pains that set in which was nice, but once the owner (wife of the sushi chef) found out about that she lost her mind. She went off on the waitress in front of customers, actually chewed me out and told me "This is the way I run MY restaurant." She embarrassed me in front of other customers, then over charged me for meals I didn't order. When I brought this to her attention she further increased her already nasty attitude and blamed me for the mistake!!! The food was Ok, but the service was SO poor that I will never ever return to that place and I will ensure my friends never make that mistake either. This was truly a horrifying experience and it completely ruined my husbands birthday. DO NOT EAT HERE!
