Dr. Dechter received a BS degree in Zoology from the University of Maryland, College Park in 1978. He received his DDS degree from the University of Maryland Dental school in 1982. He has been practicing at this location for 36 plus years. He has been consistently rated among the top dentists in the area in both Checkbook and Washingtonian magazine, most recently in the 2017 issue of Washingtonian. Someone asked him why he became a dentist. The answer was simple; he likes fixing things and playing with gadgets! As a child, he was constantly taking things apart and putting them back together. Fast forward to now, and Dr. Dechter remains passionate about the new technologies, materials, and techniques developing in modern dentistry. To remain up to date Dr. Dechter is able to combine his love of travel with his constant quest to further his education at different training facilities throughout the US. His love of the people in his practice is evident when his hygienists have to interrupt him from socializing in their treatment rooms. Hobbies besides dentistry include trying to stay in shape for downhill skiing, long distance running, culinary exploration, keeping up with Sheree’s speed walking, and of course, walking their dog Sydney.
