Endometriosis
Endometriosis is the development of uterine-lining tissue outside the uterus. Symptoms include abdominal pain, heavy periods, and infertility. Treatments include pain relievers, birth control pills, and surgery.
Pelvic Pain
Physical or sexual abuse. Experts are not sure why this is so, but about half of women with chronic pelvic pain have a history of abuse.

In many cases, a woman can experience painful intercourse if there is not sufficient vaginal lubrication, which may be related to menopause. Other causes include include vaginal infections, intercourse too soon after surgery or childbirth, and pelvic inflammatory disease. Sex pain can be caused by sexually transmitted diseases, such as genital herpes. Treatment may include estrogen creams or other prescription medications, and if there is no underlying medical cause, therapy.

Prenatal visits are scheduled every four weeks in the first and second trimester. From 28 weeks on it is every other week; and from 35 weeks on it is once a week. Birth defects affect 3-4% of all pregnancies. Some, but not all, of the possible birth defects can be discovered by blood tests, ultrasound and genetic testing.

Because reversible contraceptive methods such as birth control pills are less than perfect for pregnancy prevention, many women choose tubal ligation. Hysterectomy
Vaginal vault prolapse occurs when the upper portion of the vagina loses its normal shape and sags or drops down into the vaginal canal or outside of the vagina. It may occur alone or along with prolapse of the bladder (cystocele), urethra (urethrocele), rectum (rectocele), or small bowel (enterocele). Vaginal vault prolapse is usually caused by weakness of the pelvic and vaginal tissues and muscles. It happens most in women who have had their uterus removed (hysterectomy).
