Our family has used Dr. Brakebill's hospital for over thirty years. I have always felt that the caring staff of techs and doctors do their best to explain specific questions. Dr. Brakebill, who volunteered at the local emergency County site, and the other doctors seem very knowledgeable with medical advice and surgery. Their boarding facilities is also a help being reasonably priced and run by friendly and engaged personnel.

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for letting me know about this place. I will never go to Brakebill"s rude and uncaring veterinary hospital.

Dr. Jennifer Schwind DVM is an excellent Veterinarian in my opinion. She has a wonderful rapport with the animals and with their humans. When we brought our male Beagle in because of ear problems she diagnosed it promptly and he no longer suffers from the problematic infections of his ears that he has had since he was a puppy, and the other Vet we took him to just kept giving him medications and telling us to clean his ears. They also kept telling us it was a yeast infection and come to find out when Dr Schwind looked at him she diagnosed him as having a Bacteria infection and put him on medication for that . Within a week his ear problem was gone and he has not had anymore episodes with it since. I highly recommend her as a caring person and will be taking all my other dogs to her as well.

As a continuation of my previous post from "Lexi_411" because it exceeded the character limit, here is the rest of my review.

Our family was devastated. But, that didn't stop Brakebill's office from having their bill arrive in the mail the NEXT day - even after Brakebill specifically told my mom she would not have to pay for that day's services which amounted to $400! Perhaps they should consider changing their sign from "hospital" to "clinic" because the word hospital implies that you will be able to receive help! My mom has ALWAYS paid her bill in full when leaving his office, EVERY time, no matter how much. And this treatment (or lack thereof) and the way we were treated is inexcusable, and we will NEVER be returning to their office again!

My family has used this “hos...

My family has used this “hospital" for 11 years. Recently our dog had fallen critically ill. He was taken to Brakebill's "hospital" for the first time on 10/18/12, and thankfully Dr. Schwind was the first vet to see him because she at least cared for his health and was concerned. After a near $300 visit and some medication later, our dog was sent home. By the following Tuesday (10/23/12) he was in critical condition again. My mother - who was forced to deal with this situation because I am away at college - called up to the "hospital" after 5 p.m. to get a copy of his blood test results and EKG so she could take them to an Emergency Vet Hospital in Denison. She did not even want to be seen by one of the Vets she just wanted a copy of his test results to take with her. When she called the first time, Anita - Brakebill's wife - answered the phone and before my mom could even ask about getting a copy of his results, she rudely cut her off and fed her a B.S. line about how they were closed for the evening and that there was no doctor there still. When my mom called back again, they refused to answer the phone. Therefore, since my dog was on the brink of death, she drove over to the office. When she got there she found that there was a parking lot full of cars. When she walked in, she saw there was still a waiting room with a few patients in it, AND a vet still there! After my mom asked for the copies - which totaled TWO pieces of paper - Anita proceeded to whisper around the partition and then came out and asked some fake small talk questions. After my mom drove 45 miles home and then 60 miles back to the ER vet, he was stabilized and told to follow up at Brakebill's office the next morning. Unfortunately, Dr. Schwind was not on rotation that day and we were stuck with Brakebill! Every time, my dog has been seen in his office, they have to put him under anesthesia because he is "difficult". Therefore, it costs us about $175-200 EXTRA each time, because Brakebill doesn't know how to handle him. When my mom walked in the door with my barely alive dog, Anita felt the need to make the comment "well he lived through the night." Are you freaking kidding me?! My mom was obviously an emotional wreck about potentially losing our beloved dog, and then she makes a comment like that!! After Brakebill knocked him out - which is also extremely hard on his heart, especially when he is so sick - he kept telling my mom she should take him to a specialist to have an ultrasound done and possibly a CT, because he just couldn't tell form the x-rays what was wrong with him and he didn't have the ability to do an ultrasound. He also proceeded to tell her that these are "difficult cases and he is more interested in the quick and easy money."!!! He also told my mom that he would be willing to do an exploratory surgery on him if she would like! When my mom picked him up later that day, our dog's belly was shaved. When my mom asked why, he said they did an ultrasound on him. Therefore, he LIED to her earlier and just did not want to be inconvenienced with our "difficult case" although; the money from the exploratory surgery apparently would have been worth his time! By this time I had lost all faith and trust with this place, and I would not trust Brakebill to not open him up and just kill him because he was a "difficult case" so he wouldn't have to deal with him any further. I told my mom I didn't want Brakebill touching him anymore and that I wanted a second opinion. The other vet that we took him to was able to examine him just fine without sedating him, which leads me to believe that it was Brakebill's office that had traumatized him in some way when he was a puppy. Sadly, we ended up losing our dog on 10/25/12.
