I was a new potential patient but will not be returning to this office. I made an appointment that was canceled due to inclement weather, which I understand. Yet when I called the next day to confirm my second appointment the voice message still said the office was closed, so I didn't show to my second appointment. When I called the following day the office had been opened before and I'd missed my appointment entirely. The office didn't even call to see why I was a no show. When I finally did get to my appointment, the doctor spent more time talking about his own personal thoughts on the health care system than he did asking me about my mental health or trying to help diagnose me. When he did talk about medications he used the clinical name rather than a more common name, even after I expressed how I wasn't following him. In the end he didn't offer a potential diagnosis, medication options or any real guidance to help me deal with my anxiety/depression. Very disappointing

The office staff (not the providers my daughter or I were seeing and since I have never spoken to the actual owner, that person is not included in this review either) at Bay Area Behavioral Health are unprofessional and incompetent. To be specific, the Office Manager Marlene and their front desk person Theresa....This office has been OVER CHARGING me per their contracted rate with my insurance carrier and I tried for close to 3 weeks to have the issue resolved. I even faxed a 19 page report all of my EOB's and proof of payments showing what I have paid of my patient responsiblities to date to the office manager Marlene, NO RESPONSE. 1 week prior to my appointment I paid the complete balance (less than $69.00) that according to my claims and insurance company was all I owed for all services rendered to that date. I showed up for my appointment and they refused to see me unless I paid "my balance", which i tried showing Theresa the proof of payment and she REFUSED to take it. I also tried giving her all of the EOB's again etc and she REFUSED to take them. Which is very upsetting seeing how long I had been trying to get SOMEONE to resolve the matter. I told them I don't owe a balance. I had done more than my part as the patient and the customer. I had the proof and they didn't want any of it, they did not care all they wanted is MONEY THAT IS NOT OWED TO THEM. In fact, this issue prompted me to look into my daughters insurance claim as well. In review of the claim they submitted for my daughter, I found out BCBS paid that claim IN FULL minus her $15.00 copay.... HOWEVER I TOO ALSO PAID in full PLUS the copay. Which I believe I am responsible for because her Deductible is not met, not BCBS. They actually owe BCBS $98.52 so it can be applied to my daughters individual deductible. And because I refused to pay a balance I do not owe, they called the Police. When speaking to the Police and showing them my payments and EOB's they completely agreed with me and gave me some information about a place they knew of that has therapy services for adults and teens. I am absolutely sure any other place would be more professional, competent and HONEST with their billing practices. I have reported them already to BCBS, my insurance carrier and also I am currently in the process of filing a complaint with the Office of the Attorney General Consumer Protection Division, the Maryland Board of Physicians and the Better Business Bureau. I had to give at least 1 star and they don't deserve that..........as I said in the beginning this is a review of ONLY the Office staff mentioned, not the Therapists or the owner...and I do plan to find out who the owner is and write a letter of formal complaint as well.

Very professional and helpful staff. My doctor has been very helpful. Highly recommend.
