Guardianship
In the Matter of the Estate of Sullivan, No. 49266-7-I, Washington Court of Appeals, Division I (2003). Bruce Moen was retained as an expert witness at the trial level. The Court of Appeals referred to Bruce Moen as an “acknowledged expert in the field of administration of trusts, guardianships, and estates.”

Murder
In Re the Estate of Whitehead, No. 58624-6-I, Washington Court of Appeals, Division I (2007). In an unpublished opinion, the Court of Appeals reversed the trial court ordering Bruce Moen, as Personal Representative, to make a partial distribution of $150,000 from the Estate to the surviving spouse for attorney fees incurred by her in a pending criminal action for the murder of the decedent when there was no showing by the surviving spouse that such distribution would not be prejudicial to the other heirs.

Intellectual Property

Under appropriate circumstances, Moen Law will act expeditiously to remove or disable access to the material that is claimed to be infringing or claimed to be the subject of infringing activity. Moen Law will, following appropriate investigation, terminate or disable access by repeat infringers.

Estate Planning
Bruce Moen has been in private practice in the State of Washington since 1976. For the past 35 years, his practice has been limited to estate administrations and litigation. This involves both representing private parties and accepting Court appointments as a fiduciary in contested estates. Mr. Moen has been appointed by the Court as a Personal Representative, Special Administrator, Special Master, Guardian, or Trustee in contested estates over 150 times and as Guardian ad Litem approximately 200 times over the past 35 years. He is regularly consulted or retained as an expert by other attorneys engaged in defending and prosecuting estate matters or in resolving difficult issues of estate administration. He periodically served as a Judge
Wills
We also have experience in all aspects of estate litigation. We represent clients and serve as Personal Representative, Guardian, or Trustee in all of the recurring scenarios which give rise to litigation: Will Contests, recovery of assets, contested accountings, impairment of bonds, tax matters, insolvent estates, the defense or removal of a fiduciary, breaches of fiduciary duty, contested heirship, Slayer’s Statute defense, contested creditor claims, and other fiduciary matters.
Probate
Ms. Moen has lectured and authored over 20 articles for legal seminars sponsored by the King County Bar Association (KCBA) and the National Business Institute. She is the Content Editor of Chapter 10: Probate, Guardianship, and Trust Act of the KCBA Washington Lawyers Practice Manual and is the Author of the section on probate law. She is also the Chair and Editor of the upcoming 2022 KCBA Probate Policy & Procedure Manual.

Tax Law
We are experienced in all aspects of estate administration. In addition to representing fiduciaries, we are often appointed to serve as Personal Representative, Guardian, or Trustee for the purpose of resolving estate problems leading to final distribution. Experience in estate administration has involved virtually all common problem scenarios, including estates involving the operation of ongoing businesses, estates involving the marketing of assets, the winding down of insolvent estates, tax matters, insolvent estates and the administration of complex estates.
