Surgical Oncology is the branch of surgery which focuses on the surgical management of malignant disease, or cancer. Dr. Rashidi is exceptionally skilled and educated in oncologic surgery. His surgical oncology interest and specialization extend well beyond his fellowship in Research of Oncologic Surgery he conducted while at University of California San Diego, but to the realities of the medical successes his oncology patients experience every day. Dr. Rashidi is an active member of the American Association of Cancer Research, and is internationally recognized for his numerous publications and presentations on the treatment of cancer patients. Dr. Rashidi has spent numerous years on cancer research and publications, and is well-known for his development and establishment of Intraperitoneal Hyperthermic Chemotherapy in the Department of Surgery at University of Padua, Italy. He receives international patient referrals from other physicians because of his vast knowledge in surgical oncology, which allows him to approach even the most challenging cases successfully.

He is a graduate of the medical school at the University of Milan, Italy. He then completed a general surgery residency at the University of Padua, Italy and a general surgery and surgical oncology fellowship at the University of California San Diego.
Minimally Invasive Surgery
Laparoscopic Surgery is also known as minimally invasive surgery, and is a modern technique in which many surgeries are performed through tiny incisions. In laparoscopic surgery, a laparoscope, or telescopic rod and lens system, is inserted through tiny incisions (usually 0.5 to 1.5 cm). A small-chip video camera, a light source, and a fiber optic cable system are connected to the laparoscope during the procedure. This allows the operative area to be illuminated and visually magnified for enhanced viewing on an outside monitor.

Laparoscopy
The Hepatobiliary system refers to the liver, gallbladder, and bile ducts, and how they work together to make bile. Hepatobiliary Surgery is the surgical treatment of bile ducts and pancreatic diseases. Often, surgical procedures of the hepatobiliary system can be performed using laparoscopy.

Laparoscopic Surgery
Using laparoscopic surgery, a surgeon can maneuver an operative site while using a few 0.5 to 1.5 cm incisions, versus, for example, the common 20 cm incision traditionally used for the removal of the gallbladder. Laparoscopic Surgery minimizes post-operative pain and recovery times while maintaining an enhanced visual field for surgeons.
