Dental Examination
Your dentist will check the health of your teeth and gums and examine any existing restorations. They will likely also examine your jaw and the way your teeth fit together. The oral exam allows your dentist to obtain a complete picture of the health of your smile. If you have not had x-rays taken within the past six months, you will likely have some taken during this appointment as well.
X-rays
Knowing what to expect during your first visit to a new dentist can help you feel calm and prepared for your first appointment. During your first consultation, you will get to know your new dentist and our friendly and caring office staff. You will also have time to discuss any questions or concerns you have about the health and well-being of your smile. New patients at our office generally undergo a comprehensive oral health examination from their new dentist. The exam may include dental x-rays and a professional cleaning from one of our dental hygienists.

Oral Surgery
Following pre-operative instructions is important to ensure a smooth procedure and an easy recovery process. Pre-op instructions for dental surgery differ depending on which procedure you are undergoing and the type of sedation or anesthesia you will receive. Some oral surgery procedures are performed using only local anesthetic, while others involve intravenous (IV) sedation. Following these general guidelines is usually a good place to start. Your dentist can provide you with more specific instructions related to your individual procedure.
Jaw Surgery
Those who are best suited to orthognathic surgery have teeth alignment issues or jaw issues that orthodonture can’t fix. The surgery aims to permanently move the jaw into a position where it will permanently line up your bite. There are lots of ways that the jaw can come out of alignment, usually centered around the upper and lower jaws growing at different rates. Many people will have no problems during their childhood, and once they have a few growth spurts in young adulthood, they will start to notice a problem.
Pre-prosthetic Surgery
Your recovery from pre-prosthetic surgery will largely depend on the type and extent of your procedure. It is common to experience some swelling and inflammation after most treatments. Your doctor may prescribe anti-inflammatories, and you can also take over-the-counter medications to minimize discomfort.
Flap Surgery
Flap surgery: When a deep cleaning is not sufficient, your dentist can perform a flap surgery. During this procedure, they will create a small flap in the affected gum tissue to better access the bacteria underneath.
Gum Surgery
Excess or uneven soft tissue can result in an ill-fitting denture. Fortunately, gum surgery is typically faster and less invasive than treatments that target the bone. In many cases, your doctor can excise tissue with a diode laser. As this device will seal your blood vessels simultaneously, you should experience minimal bleeding and swelling, as well as a quick recovery.

In some cases, you can raise your annual maximum to better suit your needs. There is usually a separate lifetime maximum for orthodontics.
