Overall

I remember this lady, the first time I was there, was to fix a leaky toilet. So I walk in the door and the first question was ,how much will this cost? I told her I didn't know until I looked at it. So I see that it is leaking around the base of the toilet, I go to pull the toilet, and find out someone had tap-conned the flange and the toilet to the concrete floor. The heads rounded off so they had to be carefully cut with a hacksaw blade. Upon removing the toilet, I see that the flange is broken,so the existing flange needs to be cut out ,and a new one installed.
Which I showed her. The bathroom had recently been remodeled "obviously" by a handyman. Even though I gave her a break on the labor, she still complained about the cost.
Believing that we would not hear from this person again, they called back about some leaks ,and a loose sink faucet.and again as soon as I walked in the door , The first question was how much will this cost?
my response was the same. Upon taking the handles apart ,to see what the problem was, I discover a special clip that secures the valve body to the sink was missing, obviously handyman work.so after looking through our miscellaneous parts to no avail , and calling all the local suppliers, to find out that you cannot just buy that one part separately. So while we were at the supply house, I picked up new valve bodies took them back to her house, and showed her what the problem was, and ask her what she wanted us to do.I gave her the price ,and she told us to replace them. We then repaired some other faucets ,identified a deck tub faucet, that had been discontinued approximately 15 years ago, located a place in California that happened to have the parts ,found the outside access panel to be able to locate the isolation valve ,shut it off to stop the continuing dripping.and again after giving her a discount on labor she complained about the bill. I talk to her husband on the phone and explained what we were doing ,and he seemed understanding, and a nice guy.so this doctor's wife who lives in a gated community ,wants problems created by her unskilled remodelers repaired for nothing. I have wondered what her husband's response would be if a patient walked in ,and ask the price before examination ,finds out another surgery is required to repair the first botched surgery ,and it will cost three times more. In my 40 years of business ,this lady probably gets first place in the "you get what you pay for" category.
