Mercury occurs naturally in the environment in several different forms. Humans can neither create it or destroy it. It is found in the earth’s crust and rocks, and is often released into the atmosphere as a byproduct of mining and manufacturing. Two of the most common ways the human body comes in contact with mercury are eating fish that lived in mercury-riddled water and the leeching of mercury from metal/amalgam fillings in teeth.
Resin Composite
Tooth colored fillings can be made of a porcelain or composite resin which is bonded directly to the tooth. The restorations can be custom-colored to precisely match your teeth. When porcelain or resin fillings are bonded in place they are extremely natural looking and durable. I use only the best in bonding adhesive materials. The Bonding adhesive is placed under the restorative material to adhere it to the tooth structure. The bonding procedure can improve the strength of the tooth to some extent. Depending on the type of bonding material used it can also prevent sensitivity and have a greater bonding strength. I continually research these adhesives and materials to make sure I provide only the very best products to my patients.

When Dr. George offers the dental laser to reduce periodontal pockets as an option in place of periodontal surgery, patients are very excited to try it. We cannot guarantee that surgery can always be avoided, especially if periodontal disease is extremely advanced, but in most cases we are able to do so. The dental laser treatment targets and removes diseased tissue. Its special wavelength leaves healthy gum tissue undisturbed. This also allows for the mouth to heal more quickly. There is no need for stitches because it is not an invasive procedure like surgery.
Deep Cleaning
Ince ozone therapy effectively kills bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites, then it can be effective in controlling periodontal disease. You can receive periodontal treatment with ozone in San Diego from Dr. Georgaklis. Dr. George initially has his hygienist do one quadrant of root planning, scaling and curettage per week with anesthetic. All pockets are irrigated with ozanated water which reduces the bacteria in the area.
