I had a friend in this facility a few years ago. I know for a fact Andy that the call lights did not get answered in two minutes, more like five to ten, sometimes even longer. I've even had to go to the nursing station and ask for help. I have to say though that most of the nurses were friendly especially Mary the little Filipino nursing assistant and two of the night nurses. My only other real complaint is that she never got good consistent therapies. For the first few weeks therapies went well, then after that, it was hit and miss. I was told by an OTR at another facility where I have my father that it has to do something with assessment periods, and that the new admits get seen first as this is how you get paid. Is this true Mr. Andy? Why are rehab aides allowed to treat patients when no therapist are in the room? I thought this was against state law. Sadly, she passed away 8 months ago at another facility. The care was not much better there but it was an improvement.

I have been to Carmel Mtn several times to visit a friend that lives there. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I visit about once a month and i have started going on days that I can eat there. The food is always really good. They are constantly working on renovation projects to improve the facility and the administration staff seem to be available to anyone that wants to meet with them. I met the DON once and she was really responsive with the issue we had and took care of it immediately. I would put a loved one there for sure. They just had there annual inspection from the government and I happened to be there one of the days the Medicare people were there and I overheard one of them say that it was one of the best places they inspect. That was good enough for me.

I was a patient here a few months ago and it was nothing but misery. The facility in itself is beautiful, but don't let that fool you. I don't know how this facility ranked so high on it's survey for good nursing care. I never got my pain medication when I asked for it, usually an hour or so after. Whenever I rang my call light, it would take them at least twenty to thirty minutes to answer it even though they were at the nurses station talking to each other. My room was only a few doors down from the nurses station and you could hear patients or family members getting upset at the staff because they felt they were not getting the best of care. I heard one family member as a nurse if she could take her father to the bathroom, and the nurse got made and said that it was not her patient and that he would have to wait an hour until his nurse came back from lunch. Sounds familiar. Every time I went to therapy it was like one big circus. Seems the therapists just did not care.

I had my mother in this facility for two months, in that time, she developed bed sores on her buttom and shoulders. She never had any bed sores when she entered the facility nor was it on her nursing eval upon admittance. The therapy staff was unprofessional and she never got the therapy that was promised to us. The OT acted like he did not care. This facility has a way below average survey, something that I did not know about until all this happened... rule one, do you're research. Nursing staff was very unfriendly and did not appear concerned about my mothers well being. The facility is very noisy at night and residents were complaining they could not sleep at night. This nursing home as an above average deficiency rate and I can see why now. There are better nursing homes in the area so look before you place you're loved one here.
