Overall

Oh. My. Goodness. I seriously just had the best pedicure EVER. Talk about attentive. And meticulous. And attention to detail!!! You know that little stripe down the side of your toenail that is ALWAYS missing polish?? Yeah, so not the case here. And the massage??? To die for. Pressure points ladies, pressure points. I got a manicure at the same time, and boy, that hand massage was out of this world. I just had abdominal surgery 10 days ago, and can't twist/bend very well. These ladies were completely accommodating!! She moved to both sides of me, just so I wouldn't have to twist my hands to the same side for the mani. Highly, highly recommend this place. I live in IB, and will definitely be coming here from now on!!!

I tried Apollo for the first time on Friday night. I got there just before they closed with out an appointment, but they welcomed me anyway. The salon is new and clean and nicely decorated. The massage chairs are awesome. The owner was very nice and checked in with me regularly. My pedicurist was Tracy and she did an amazing job. She was very sweet and gave me one of the best foot massages I've ever had. She also did a great job on my toes. They are beautiful!

I decided to go back in on Sunday for a gel polish manicure. Again, I walked in with out an appointment and was seen right away by Kim. She also did a wonderful job on my manicure.

I am very happy and will return again and again!!

It was my first time in for a pedi/mani with my mom and I didn't like the service I was given... the lady I got seemed like she was in a rush and made me uncomfortable. Not only did she make me stay in those massage chairs to do my manicure, but she cut my finger while trimming my cuticles. She spent more time trying to clean it up with alcohol than she did on actually painting my nails, probably thinking that I wouldn't notice. It wouldn't stop bleeding till an hour after I left!! The pedicure part wasn't so bad, but I don't think she knew how to use the crackle nail polish because she dabbed on a big glob of it and out of all 10 toes, only about 5 "cracks" appeared. Talk about epic fail. I was so disappointed.

I have never given one star. ...

I have never given one star.

I don't usually have to give bad reviews because... well, I consider myself pretty easy to please!

I've been coming to this nail salon to have my eyebrows waxed for over 2 years now. There is usually a younger woman that does them quickly and easily. She doesn't take the greatest care, and it is not the most luxurious of experiences, but for $10 she gets the job done pretty dang well. Sometimes there is wax on my face, sometimes the wax is too hot, but I basically feel like I am getting what I pay for. Cheap, convenient, etc.

Yesterday, she wasn't there. A different woman lead me to the back room, and while she wasn't my usual girl, I'm not the type to be judge-y before the service even begins.

Once on the table, disaster ensued.

She placed the first of the wax, laid down the strip, pulled, and... it didn't hurt... at all... as if no hair came up... I thought it was strange, and it only got worse. She proceeded to bump my nose and face with her hands every time she pulled up wax. She dragged her long hair across my face, hands, and body throughout the service. She left copious amounts of wax all over my face, and then tried to clean it up by slathering baby oil all over my face and rubbing it around with her hands into my pores and into my hair. And she dripped the lovely oily, waxy, lotion-y concoction onto my LEATHER JACKET.

All the while I'm thinking to myself, "Maybe she is new at this, she's not smooth by any means, but I'll give her a chance, this is unprofessional, but I'm sure she is trying her hardest... Right...?"

Then she gave me the mirror. All done! I took a look and found that basically NOTHING HAD CHANGED. There were stray hairs everywhere. Everywhere. I have a lot of eyebrow to work with. It's not hard to tell where the cleaning up needs to be done. It was an entirely incomplete job. So, I told her so. She ARGUED WITH ME. She said some people "like their eyebrows this way."

After some bickering about the completeness of the job, she said she would fix them, and I decided I was already on the table, so I'd let her try.

Another 20 minutes of the same, and she was "done" again. It was still horrible, but I figured I would fix it myself.

I went to the front of the salon to chat with a manager (they should probably forbid this woman from doing any more waxings), but every single employee sat around refusing to address me at the front, refusing to make eye contact, acting busy (without clients) despite the fact that I was waving my credit card around.

I should have just left.

Eventually they started making comments to the woman who had done my eyebrows, and she came to the front of the store to take my payment. I didn't want to hurt her feelings or be a jerk, so I payed and left.

When I got home I called the store. The same woman picked up the phone, I asked to speak to a manager, she refused, said there wasn't one there, and when I told her I knew there was because I had just been in there she said, "Did you just get your eyebrows done?" and then she HUNG UP ON ME.

Talk about an all around lack of professionalism.

I know that this place is cheap, so I didn't expect to have a ritzy experience. I knew what I was paying for, but this was just plain unacceptable!!

I'm sad to say I won't be coming back.
