Patrick Carpenter, M.D. attended medical school at Loyola University Chicago and continued his training in a five-year Otolaryngology '?" Head and Neck Surgery residency at the University of Utah. Prior to joining Carilion, Dr. Carpenter finished an intensive fellowship in head and neck oncologic, skull-base, and microvascular surgery at the University of California in San Francisco. As a head and neck cancer and reconstructive surgeon, he treats both benign and malignant tumors of the skull-base, face, jaw, oral cavity, throat, and neck. The way we look, talk, smell, taste, hear, and swallow are all critical aspects of being human and his goal is to provide excellent oncologic surgical care that maximizes these qualities and function.
