Overdentures
Connecting the Abutment/Bone Healing: In many cases, it is possible to place the abutment at the same time as the dental implant, and a fixed temporary solution may be constructed immediately or within a matter of days. If immediate placement of the abutment is not possible or desired, the dental implants may be covered by the soft tissue while the implants integrate with the bone. This usually takes three to six months. Different temporary solutions such as crowns, bridges or overdentures can be used during this time. Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Tooth Extractions
At the time of tooth extraction, Dr. Mangelson may feel that a bone graft is necessary to support the dental implant. Based on the individual patient, healing time may be required for the bone graft to be dense enough to place a dental implant.
Ridge Augmentation
Sometimes when you lose one or more teeth, you can get an indentation in the area where the tooth used to be. This happens because the bone naturally recedes when it is no longer supporting a tooth. In that case, Dr. Mangelson may suggest a ridge augmentation. For this solution, a gum graft is used in conjunction with the soft tissue graft so that there is more bone support for the restorative replacement. This also gives the patient an optimal aesthetic result.
Bone Grafting
When you receive a bone regeneration procedure, our periodontist will thoroughly examine your mouth and discuss your oral health needs with you in order to determine which type of treatment will be most effective for you. During your procedure, our periodontist will open the gum tissues to expose the bone, clean the area and add bone grafting materials and proteins to the site to encourage healing. This guided bone regeneration allows the grafted material to grow together with your natural bone tissue to create a stronger and more stable foundation for your teeth and implants.

Sometimes gums extend onto the front surface of the teeth and the natural balance between length of the teeth and height of the gums is lost. There are several different reasons for this overgrowth, including medication, increased hormone levels, orthodontics, poor oral hygiene and sometimes even stress.
