General Info
The Division of Homeland Security provides emergency services to families and their children for various disaster situations throughout Ohio. It offers recovery and mitigation services for a range of adverse conditions, including floods, tornadoes, earthquakes, storms, landslides, droughts and hazardous material spills. The division trains more than 1,000 emergency responders round the year in various areas, such as domestic preparedness, hazardous material and professional development. The Division of Homeland Security supports the Flood Mitigation Assistance program, which provides financial assistance to various communities of the state in implementing measures to reduce the long-term risk of flood damage to buildings and manufactured homes. It also operates the State and Local Assistance Program that encourages the development of comprehensive disaster preparedness and assistance plans, programs and organizations by states and local governments. The division is located in Salt Lake City.
