        Here is my story: My data center had an hvac disaster and as a result we lost two of our most important drives. The data was 8 weeks of billing my customers had to have. Of course I had to do the fastest thing I could do to get my data recovered. We are in Salt Lake City so we decided to go with a local firm Data Retrieval. In one half our a courier service picked up our drive. Of course I was relieved knowing we would have our data back in a reasonable amount of time. I dealt with Jason and his supervisor Leo. Both were so helpful. I was first a bit shaken by the pricing, but when you realize that your data is so important and so many customers are depending on you, you need to expect to pay for the technical expertise of a data recovery company. If you decide to use this company make sure you understand that their service is excellent, they are professional and they will not let you down. You will be happy to pay the fee when you see your data recovered.

        The drive was worked on over the weekend, and I called and emailed them like a mother hen, but they were very patient with me, and lo and behold, there was success. On Tuesday I was able to see my data on line. Wow, what a relief. Then I asked when I could get it, they said it may take several hours to copy it to an external and would not be able to get out until tomorrow morning. I was again shaken because I knew my customers were in need of their data. Leo came up with a great idea, he let me choose what data I needed right away, he would send that out overnight and then at no charge to us copy the rest of the data to another external and send it separately. And I asked for my original drive back and Leo advised me to let them hold on to it until I am confident that all data is recovered. Yes, this made sense. So, we are confident that the data has been recovered. He is returning the drive at their expense. This is far and beyond the call of duty.

        Well, to make a long story longer, if you can believe it, the data arrived in Salt Lake City as promised this morning. We extracted it and are in the process of recovering our customers' data. Leo and Jason have my eternal thanks for a job well done. I know it was expensive, but well worth it. If you have a Mercedes, you are not going to take it to a mechanic around the corner. And I consider my data a Mercedes that needed to be put it in the hands of a capable company that I could trust with my drive.

        Moral of the story, make sure you have a good backup. And if you don't Call Data Retrieval. Talk to Leo, he will not disappoint you. I had sent my quickbooks external drive to another company in Miami, who could not recover my files, I wish I had sent it to Data Retrieval. I spent a weekend 24 hours a day recovering all of my statements. I could have gone to the beach instead.
