I purchased my car back in 2014 and have all of my services done here but never again. All they ever do is apologize. My whole day was ruined do to them after I spent over $550 on services the day before. Do you think they offered a refund or partial refund? Noooooo they didn't. From here on out they'll only work on what's under warranty and I'll take my money elsewhere!!!??

Overall

had a really good experience purchasing a car from Don Brown Chevrolet. I would have to say that everyone was very warm and friendly. I was help by both Paul DeYoung, who did an AMAZING job with helping me with my vehicle, and he has one of the best personalities ever! Ben Cordia assisted me as well and they made the experience a breeze. I was especially pleased that everything was done in a timely manner. The only complaint I would have is that when I spoke with Ben on the phone, he stated I would be able to get customer cash that would only apply to the vehicle that I was purchasing. I was never offered that. Once I got home, and the excitement from my purchase wore off, I remembered, but it was too late, the deal was done. I would recommend going forward that they not tell people they will do something for them that they have no intention of doing. Overall I was happy and would purchase again, I just would make sure that I don't sign the contract until I receive all verbal agreements.

My New 2014 Chevy Sonic Lt

I went into Don Brown and was so shocked when my salesman Shaun Howell went out of his way to make sure I was approved. This was my first time ever purchasing a vehicle. I'm soooo happy. You can't tell me My God isn't good.

I called Don Brown to check on a Camaro that was listed on the internet and got to speak the internet sales manager who is also named Shawn. He said that he had the car and to come in when I get a chance and he will put me with one of his best salesman. I make it there and Shawn puts me with Paul. Paul talked a bit about the car, we took a test drive and went to talk about financing options. Paul comes up with the best financing offer and turns me over to the finance manager. The finance manager covered all of the bases on the loan and got me in the car the same day. These guys know their job and do it well.

Overall

I have mixed feelings about this place.

The great thing is that there was a safety recall on my vehicle and they managed to work me into a very packed schedule in order to get this done before I graduated and drove off into the sunset. Thanks-- that really was helpful. (I'm not being sarcastic.)

The one star review speaks to the way I was treated in the shop. Like most auto places, they will try to strangle money out of you-- this is more common than it is uncommon, and this is coming from someone whose grandfather owned and operated his own mechanic shop. You really do need to go into most places with a "no-nonsense, grab the bull by the horns" attitude. But these folks are different: they won't take no for an answer and will try everything in the books to get their way.

I'm a woman who happens to know a little about cars because cars interest me. I also have several friends who build cars and often go to them whenever I have questions/concerns. So, when they offered to run a diagnostic check for a "check engine" light for $100, I declined, as many places will offer the same service for free and anything more than $50 is robbery.

Second, the old joke with people who work with cars is to place a thing of duct tape over the "check engine light" when it goes off because it can be anything--water in the gas tank, dirt, etc. Now, to be fair, I was having an issue this winter when the car wouldn't start and I'd have to tap the break to get the gas to squirt into the engine. This (at the advice of my friend, who build cars) was likely due to the cold or some dirtiness. When I was explaining to my father (who had come with me; the car is legally in his name) that it did act up some in the frigid weather but was a-OK when it warmed up, the man overheard us and wanted to know what I said. I repeated that, and he claimed that cold weather won't make a car act up (lie) and when I repeated, again, that since it warmed up above 20 degrees there hadn't been any issues, he said, "Fine. Whatever. You're right." When I left to check on my mother in the car, he told my father a story about a "young woman" who damaged the car by putting diesel fuel into the engine, costing upwards of $10,000 in repairs, because she was too afraid to admit this to her parents. (The insinuation was that I'd roally messed up my own car and didn't want to own up to it and that he should override my decision.)

Third, a woman who I'd spoken to accused me of bringing the car in at a time later than "we'd scheduled"--7AM. On the telephone, we hadn't scheduled a time. When I asked when I should bring it in, she said, "Sometime in the morning. We open at 7AM. Keep in mind that the sooner you get it here the sooner we can get it done." I brought it in at 9:30 and she was quick to accuse me for "forgetting" my scheduled timeslot. There was never any scheduled timeslot. Really, auto shop lady, own up to your own errors.

So basically, this experience was like walking into a classroom of five-year-olds, who were simultaneously ageist, sexist, and the auto-shop equivalent of "Mean Girls." Have fun, if you decide to go here. Bring your battle armor.

EDIT: As an update, I brought this to a reputable mechanic in Nebraska and they ran a diagnostic for free. As it turns out, a mouse had nested in my engine area over the winter and chewed through the electrical wires in the wire harness. It didn't affect anything other than my car's temperature gauges and was a quick fix. The mechanic also said it was likely the trouble starting (in my particular car) was due to the frigid temperatures and unrelated to the "check engine" light.

I bought my first car at Don Brown Chevrolet. It was used rental 2005 Malibu. I just got my 2nd car, a new 2013 Spark LS from the Down Brown dealership and had just as great of an experience, if not better. The show room is clean, the people are very friendly, there are so many models of cars to look at on-site and test drive. Nisha Wheeler was my sales person and she did a fantastic job. She's warm, funny, generous, and WORKS FOR YOU. She did everything in her power to make sure my goals were met on the day I arrived. I told her I was going to look at a few other places, but she wouldn't let me. I'm glad she didn't!

Amazing, fast and smooth

Wants in the market for a new car and then totaledy car.

I had 7 days (per my car insurance) to pick and buy a car.

I went to 3 local dealer websites and applied online for finanseing and Don Brown was the only dealer to even reply.

I had an amazing car at a fantastic price in about 4 days.

Shawn and Paul in Internet sales really stepped up and saved me.

DO NOT GO TO THE COLLISION REP...

DO NOT GO TO THE COLLISION REPAIR CENTER They take forever and charge you for more than what it costs them. I really wish I would have read the reviews on this place first. I won't repeat what others said but my complaints are the same as the others. I learned my lesson, now you should too.

STAY AWAY FROM THE COLLISION R...

STAY AWAY FROM THE COLLISION REPAIR CENTER!!! I had my 2009 Pontiac Vibe repaired here, thinking that with the Onstar and whatnot, my best bet was to take it to a Chevrolet dealer. Big mistake. They took over a month to finish, and my insurance only covered a rental for 30 days. After leaving me without a vehicle for a few days, Don Brown finally agreed to cover the cost of another rental. I got my car back a few days later, on a Friday, and when I got home I noticed lots of overspray and dirt in the paint. There were random parts from the interior left lying inside the car, and they had neglected to put a couple small interior parts back on. There was some kind of white line of what looked to be paint transfer on my windshield. I believe they rushed it so they wouldn't have to cover the rental for the weekend. I had to take it back in Monday, only to be shuttled back to my house while I was without a vehicle again for 4 hours while they fixed it. Almost two weeks later while driving my check engine & VSC warning lights turned on and then turned back off later the same day (they had taken the engine out in the repair process)- I didn't think much of this until another 2 weeks later when the same thing happened again, but this time I lost engine power. I took it back- again on a Friday- & they said there was a bad connection & "fixed" it. Here I am the next day and it has happened again. I am now without a vehicle for the weekend. Maybe they knew there was a bigger problem & didn't want to pay for a rental- either way, I will be asking my insurance company to cover a different facility to resolve the issue, and NEVER again will I patronize Don Brown- not even if you paid me to.

I have been every where trying...

I have been every where trying to find a dealer to finance me on the truck I wanted to buy and I fell for the "Slap yo Momma" guy on the radio and it was a joke. Its not really a bank like the ad says and its a used car lot with old and high mileage cars. I was going to say hell with it and just buy a $3500 truck and make payments to my brother, he was online and found something about credit repair I filled out the online credit application at stlrebuild and within like a half hour I got approved. Barrett Henry is the person who does the credit at Don Brown. He is truthfully the best guy I have ever met just dealing with day to day transactions. I don't normally do much commenting online about buying stuff I felt this guy deserves some glory. I had some jacked up credit and he made it happen with 1000 bucks down. The only other deal that someone had offered me was for a 10 year old truck putting 2500 down and then I would have had to pay another 5000 grand NO WAY if you want a good deal and save yourself all the trouble of getting jerked around call Barrett Henry and be upfront with him worked for me.
