African Hair Braiding-Fama

I have been here a couple of times. I left the only review that gave them a five star review back in 2008. I went back in 2010. It was not the same. My apt was for 9am. I got there at 845am. They were short a stylist so I was waiting about 1hr before they started. There were 2 other girls who waited about an hour also. I bought my hair from them for curly micro braids. I didn't like the quality of hair. To top everything off they did not finish my hair until after MIDNIGHT and the other 2 girls were still getting their micros done when I left. Also I have natural hair and they did not braid down past my hair so I had these bushy patches of hair. The only good thing about the shop is that they braid really skinny. Everything else was HORRIBLE. I hope they read this and make changes.

I should have been more cautious after reading the other 2 reviews. But, no I went anyway and got the worst treatment ever anywhere.



1st, they were late and there was some guy in dirty clothes cleaning the shop that already smelled like urine.



2nd, when the lady got there she didn't speak and she helped someone else without asking who had gotten there first.



3rd, she showed me a picture of the kinky twists in which I wanted and I told her that I wanted my hair just like that which was right about the shoulder with a medium width. Well after taking their break to all eat and half of them leaving to go shopping for clothes (I know this because they came back with them and the girl who stayed behind to do my hair started trying on the clothes) and pulling my hair in 2 different directions when there was 2 of them braiding and I constantly told them they were pulling too tight, my hair wasn't like I wanted it (which should have been like the picture, shoulder length). They also was burning the hair too close to my head and face.



I asked her was she going to cut the hair shorter and she just rolled it tighter and started talking in her native language to the other lady. Then they tell me that if she was to cut it shorter it would have made it come down. And as I explained to her, I specified after she showed me the picture that I wanted my hair just like that and it was not what I got.



I have gotten my hair braided by Africans before and never have I experienced this much unprofessionalism. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.

I got my hair braided there almost 3 years ago and I will not go back. She had so many BIG braids in the middle of my head, it was ridiculous. I would not recommend any to her. Very unprofessional and she would not fix it.

When I called and asked how long it would take for my micro braids they said 10 hours. I was thinking yeah right. At other shops it took 12 hours for my hair. I was pleasently surprised when my hair was complete in a little under 10 hours. It was still light outside when they were done. The people were very friendly. I don't remember the name of the girl that did my hair but she did an awesome job. At some places that make the middle braids very thick. This girl did not do that.
