My name is Nancy. I am 34 years old. When I was 8 years old I got my first pair of glasses. At that time the Dr. told my parents that I would probably be in contacts within a year because my eyesight was deteriorating very quickly. By putting me in contacts, the Dr.’s would hope to stabilize my vision. The Dr. was right. I was introduced to gas permeable contacts within a year. My eyes were a prescription of minus nine and greater. When I was 24 years old I had cryotherapy done on both of my eyes because my retinas were starting to develop small tears in them. I thought that LASIK was just a dream and that I would never be a candidate. Thanks to the encouragement and support of my husband we began to look into it together.

Ophthalmology
Center for Sight is a patient-focused ophthalmology practice providing comprehensive eye care. This means we provide care for patients of all ages with a complete array of eye care needs. Patients needing additional care from another specialist will be referred to after consultation with Dr. Liang. Most surgical procedures can be performed in our ASC (Ambulatory Surgical Center), which is located at the back entrance of our building.
Macular Degeneration
Macular degeneration is a deterioration or breakdown of the macula. The macula is a small area in the retina at the back of the eye that allows you to see fine details clearly and perform activities such as reading and driving. When the macula does not function correctly, blurriness, dark areas or distortion can affect your central vision. Macular degeneration affects your ability to see near and far and can make some activities — like threading a needle or reading — difficult or impossible.
Laser Eye Surgery
If you have an optometrist that you visit regularly and feel comfortable talking with, he/she may be able to provide you with additional information regarding LASIK and other vision correction procedures. Many optometrists can also perform your pre-surgical exam and provide you with your follow-up care after your LASIK surgery. This is called co-management.
Cataracts

Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy is a degenerative eye disease characterized by damaged blood vessels and abnormal blood vessel growth. In most cases, good management of diabetes will be enough to delay or prevent the onset of diabetic retinopathy. Yearly eye exams are recommended for all diabetic patients. These yearly eye exams will allow early treatment of damaged blood vessels and help prevent significant loss of vision. Treatment includes laser photocoagulation, steroid injections, and vitrectomy.

For our patients’ comfort and privacy, the ASC has a separate entrance. Surgical procedures performed in the ASC include cataract surgery, YAG laser procedures, SLT laser procedures, ARGON laser procedures, corneal transplants, glaucoma procedures, blepharoplasty, and ptosis repair.

Dermatology
IPL has long been used in dermatology to treat vascular facial lesions, rosacea spots, and pigmented areas. Filters are used to apply specific wavelengths of light to target abnormal blood vessels in the eyelids and skin that are often responsible for causing eyelid inflammation and meibomian gland dysfunction.
