General Info: The Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement, established in 1927, is one of the oldest narcotic enforcement bureaus in the United States. It supports a variety of programs and handles issues related to major drug dealers, violent career criminals, clandestine drug manufacturers and violators of prescription drug laws. The Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement acts as the statewide agency that is involved in enforcing state and federal drug laws and apprehending violent criminals who use illegal weapons. The bureau operates more than 45 regional narcotic task forces. It also maintains the Special Operations Units (SOU), which supports the bureau to combat intrastate drug trafficking.
