Overall
pretty woman

Just like the movie Pretty Woman, these saleswomen were so rude. My mom and I came in dressed nice and appropriately, but didnt know we needed an appointment. We wanted to just peak at the dresses(2 big weddings in the family) they shewed us out and never offered to set up a time for an appointment. Will definitely be sending pictures of all the dresses bought and leave a note saying "big mistake"

I ordered my tux on 12/23/2010...

I ordered my tux on 12/23/2010 and told them I needed for my wedding in Washington D.C. May 1st, 2011. I paid for my tux in full for over $600. I was told the tux would be ready at the end of Feb 2011 for alteration. I didn't get any phone calls in Feb, so I called them at the beginning of March to find out the process. They told me it was delay and couldn't give me a date. So I called back a week later, and they told me it will be ready a few days before my wedding. I told them I paid in full and it wasn't a rental, I must need it no later than the week before my wedding to make sure I get enough time for alteration. I called back at the end of March to remind them I needed it no later than the last week of April for my May 1st wedding. I called them today 4/25/2011, and they told me they can't have it shipped until 4/28/2011 and I wouldn't be able to have it for my wedding and they offered me a rental. If I want a rental, I wouldn't have paid over $600 to purchase a tux! They told me they needed to receive certain number of tux orders before placing mine and they thought my wedding was in the second week of May instead of the first. What the...? They are not invited to the wedding and they got my money already! Just order my freaking tux! I was really upset and told them I will just have Master Card to take the money back and go somewhere instead. So all of a sudden, they told me they can order it from another company to be delivered on Wed 4/27/11. I'm skeptical. I don't even know that's for sure and if the tux is really the one I wanted. Please watch out for their unethical business practice.

Re: Super Customer Service!

I got engaged in December 2010. After much research, I found the gown for me. Keri helped me with my measurements and ordering my gown. She was very professional with a great personality! Research suggests that people will tell at least 10 other people about a bad experience/customer service, but will forget to share the good ones! I wanted any excited brides, bridesmaids to know that Keri is the absolute best!

Keri, thank you for your help and making my day extra special!

One Stop Shop

After searching for months to find the perfect gown I thought I was just going to end up at David's Bridal and be wearing the same gown as all my friends. I kept going from shop to shop them telling me it would take up to 10 months to get my gown in and my wedding is in June!!!! I went to A Formal Affair where they can get your dresses in between 4-6 months. My sales associate was so helpful and listened to exactly what I was saying and helped me find the perfect dress! I also needed to get bridesmaids and my husbands groomsmen taken care of. A Formal Affair has those too! I was able to match my bridesmaids perfectly to the groomsmen. They had such a large variety of colors to choose from for vest's and ties. I was also able to find the most precious flower girl dress there. I walked out feeling so relieved that I had found everything for my big day. I am able to get my alterations done there and had a shipping date for my dress within days! A Formal Affair had great customer serivce, plenty of different style gowns to choose from, and a great selections of bridesmaids and tuxedos! Would highly recommend to have everything for your wedding party done here!

Save yourself the headache

This place has a lot of nerve. The staff could care less if you are a satisfied customer. Once you've placed your order they've done all they're willing to do. I had a bridesmaid drive 50 miles to pick up her dress based on the voicemail and website which both indicated they would be open. When she arrived she found a locked door and a sign that said they had gone shopping at the mart. They weren't willing to ship the dress to her at their expense because they had "made me such a deal in the first place." Don't offer free shipping on four or more dresses if your plan is to throw that back in someone's face. I went with another bridesmaid to pick up her dress and was left alone while the clerk talked on the phone the entire time. I wandered around in back rooms until I found a tape measure so we could decide where the dresses needed to be hemmed. Needless to say we won't be using them for alterations or any other services in the future. They actually ADDED stress to an already stressful time in a bride's life. NOT what you want.

A Fabulous Experience!!!

I was looking for formal dresses to attend a wedding. A friend told me about a store called A Formal Affair where she got a dress for her brother's wedding, I decided to check it out on a Saturday evening. Upon arrival, i noticed that they were busy, but i did notice how organized the sales people were; they attended to me as I walked through the door. They not only ensured that I tried on dresses that were appropriate for the occasion, but they also ensured that I felt comfortable in the dresses.

I did notice how the store was decorated; how neat and organized everything was placed around the store. In addition, I noticed how they not only have formal dresses in stock, but they also had wedding dresses and accessories to compliment these dresses. This was really important as it turned out the store was a one time stop shopping experience for me.

I really enjoyed the staff who was quite sweet and attentive to me. It was a treat to have someone who was not out to make a sale but to make sure that I got the service and attention a customer will require.

I will certainly recommend this store to anyone who is in search of a formal dress or wedding dress. Ladies you guys do do know how hard it is to find a variety of dresses that will fit and that's affordable. So go to A Formal Affair and enjoy a true fabulous shopping experience.

What a Nightmare! ..Beware

I made the mistake of renting my groomsmen Tuxedos from this place and what a nightmare. To sum it all up, they did not order the correct shoes for the groom, most of the tuxedos were the incorrect sizes and did not come in as scheduled.. One of the tuxedos was not delivered to the home until the day of the wedding! The manager had to bring the tuxedo to the home and did not get there until the groomsmen were ready to depart in the limousine to head to the church. Needless to say, they still didnt get the size right. My brother had to walk me down the aisle while attempting to hold the tuxedo jacket together. The manager was obnoxiously rude, argumentative and un-apologetic to say the least. Your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life and hopefully one of the best experiences of your life. Doing business with this retailer was a HUGE mistake!...Please do not make the same mistake I did.

Loved It!

So when I went to a formal affair it was really nice. The first thing I liked when i walked in was the nice decour, very nice lighting, and display of dresses. Also the staff was very polite and helpful. They also have an inhouse alterations woman which was quite convienient, she did an exceptional job on making my dress fit me perfectly. I would definately recomend this store, it was a pleasant experience.

Worst Customer Service

My sister is getting married in August and we spent the entire last weekend browsing shops for bridesmaid dresses, seeing as I am one of the bridesmaids. We were able to walk right into other bridal shops in the area, look around and even try on dresses. So, we spot A Formal Affair in a strip mall as we were driving around and decided to check it out. Me, my sister and another bridesmaid walked inside and started looking at some of the dresses when we were approached by a very rude and snobby employee. She proceeded to tell us (with a horrible attitude) that we could not come into the store without an appointment, speaking to us as if we were supposed to know this.

We weren't even "allowed" to LOOK at the dresses so how would we know whether or not we want to waste our time making an appointment? This is a horrible way to run a business and a great way to lose potential customers who were looking to spend quite a chunk of money. I would never recommend this store to anyone, from just the minute or 2 that I spent in there before being rudely kicked out. Do they talk to their paying customers this way as well? I should hope not.
