Elaj Aveda Day Spa

Had a facial with Malekeh at Elaj and was very disappointed. Her technique is weak and her process is flawed.



Clearly she is not someone who understands or knows the facial muscles because her massage on the face did not flow with the contours of the musculoskeletal structure. Instead it went against the grain and around the eyes she actually pulled out rather than moving in towards the nose. The massage around the neck and shoulder area wasn't any better and painful at times. Former estheticians always massaged clear down to the shoulder blades, but this one did not, only massaging the front of the face and décolletage, and nothing on the neck. That she has very long nails is unsanity and a hinderance to giving a good massage.



Her process is incorrect as she exfoliated AFTER the treatment mask. Anyone trained in esthetics knows that mask treatments are a waste on skin that hasn't been exfoliated.



Finally, an electric skin brush was used during the cleansing. This is a major health concern. There was no evidence of sterilization between clients, just a quick rinse. I wonder what the board of health would think of this practice?



The spa is fading and shows signs of poor housekeeping. It is in much need of a good scrubbing and sprucing up. The bathrobes and wraps were very threadbare. Not luxurious by any standard.



For the money, one expects 5 star accommodations and well-trained staff, neither was found at this spa.
