I'm cool again. I live out in Knightdale and I know Saturdays are not the best days to come out and fix air conditioners. Thank you Airmakers!

My big emergency turned into a small one. I turned on my AC unit for the first time and nothing. Airmakers came out on a Saturday and got things worked out. They could have sold me on a new system but instead changed out a small part and done. Very reasonable and surprisingly honest.

Happy. I had a new AC unit installed and was happy with the service. They did what they said they would do and it was a speedy install. No complaints here.

Exorbitant material charges for weekend dispatch!!!

I recently contacted Airmakers on a Saturday morning. I was told that they would charge a $148 dispatch fee which was substaintially higher than their normal rate since it was a weekend. Knowing this upfront I was ok with that and they came out that day to repair my unit. The tech was nice and began performing the work. He stated that I was low on R-22 refrigerant and then told me how much the refrigerant cost. I questioned the high price and I was told that since it was a Saturday they charge more for parts! What since does that make? I was already paying a higher dispatch fee, but to charge more money for parts? This is the exact same refrigerant they sell Monday-Friday. I was charged $400 for the 2.5 pounds of R-22 ($550 Total). I contacted another company to see what they charge and it was a total of $340 (including weekend dispatch).

I contacted the service manager about this and he politely suggested I use the other company next time. I will be sure to do that but I wanted to let others know of the hidden charges before they make the same mistake I did.

Bad service and outrageous pri...

Bad service and outrageous prices. They charged 98.00 for a diagnostic fee but on top of that they charged to get the PRICE for the parts! They told my mom that they could not get the parts warehouse on the phone so they would have to drive to get a price and charged her $69.55 to get the price! I used another company because of this and the price for repair was half of what airmakers wanted. I called to complain about the additional charge and was promised a return call by service manager - he never called me back. I again called and he told me it took him longer than he expected to get in touch with the service tech. he agreed to a refund for the $ 69.55 . Waited 3 weeks - still no refund, called again , was told refund was in process, waited another week , still no refund, called again......still waiting for refund. My advice- take your business elsewhere.......

Mrs. K Thank you for your pati...

Thursday, November 10, 2011. Ron told me that his crew would be out between 8:00am – 8:30 am I am 6 months pregnant and I now live in XXXX almost 2 hours away. I prepared myself for the trip by getting myself and my 4 year old son up at 5:30 am to leave and be in Raleigh by 8:00am I arrived at the property at 8:00am, no crew was there, 8:30am came, no crew, 9:00am came, no crew, I called Ron on his cell # that he provided to me when we initially met, I got his answering machine, I left him a voice message and for him to call me back, 9:30am came, no call back from Ron, no crew, I called the Air Makers office, spoke with a representative and explained to her the situation that a crew was to be at my home between 8:00am-8:30am…. she stated that the installer was at the office then, getting the unit and supplies needed for the job and he will be on his way. At 10:23am, (2 hours late) installer Wade came up, I asked him if Ron had told him to be at my property between 8:00am-8:30 am, he said No, said he was just told to bring out the new AC unit. He then looked at the spot where the new AC unit was to be placed and saw that the copper had been cut from when the previous unit was stolen. He stated, “Ohh I was not told the unit was stolen, I don’t have the equipment and tools needed to complete the job”. I called Ron again on his cell #, got his answering machine again, and I left him another voicemail. I then called the Air Makers office back and asked to speak with a manager. .....Response back from Service Mgr. Joel Key....Mrs. K, I reviewed the written proposal and did not see where it listed a new equipment pad as being provided. It is common practice to re-use existing equipment pads when replacing outdoor equipment as in this case.In response to your first e-mail I spoke with both Ron and Wade and after my conversation with them cannot find any fault with Ron’s initial assessment of the line set. The damage to the copper piping while very severe, was located behind the outside wall and under a layer of insulation. It was not until our technician physically attempted to adjust the pipe that it broke off and the damage was discovered. In response to your request for a 15% refund I must refer you to Paragraph 8 of our terms and conditions. This section clearly exempts Airmakers from various damages including “delays”. All additional cost incurred by Airmakers in repairing the broken pipe have been conditionally waived which more than covers the amount of compensation you are seeking. Airmakers is waiving the additional cost conditionally based upon your acceptance of this offer as a fair and equitable settlement of your complaint. Airmakers reserves the right to retract this offer and seek full compensation for additional charges incurred should customer or anyone acting on customers behalf attempt to defame or damage Airmakers reputation in anyway, including but not limited to third party complaint agencies, negative verbal and / or written reviews of work. Sincerely,

Joel Key, LEED APService Division Manager Airmakers Heating, Air Conditioning, & Plumbing
