Overall

The circuit board on our 10 year old ECW whole house steam humidifier had to be replaced June 2017, for which we paid over $400.00. Since the humidifier was not called on to perform until winter, we didn’t give it another thought. Come November/December, we assumed it was working. In January, we noticed the humidifier had failed.

The tech came in January 2018 and said the circuit board had failed again. Installing another one would only create the exact same problem and so a new humidifier was required. We thought Leitch would refund that $400+ because the part was defective and worked for only a month or so.

Leitch did offer us store credit if we bought a new, different humidifier from them and then quoted us $2500.00 (less the $400+ credit) for the installation, even though the infrastructure for a new unit already existed. We ended up getting the exact same product for only $950 from another HVAC company.

Even though the part was defective, Leitch is refusing to refund the money because the manufacturer has discontinued the model and part. That is really not our problem, but Leitch's. And so, after being their customer for 20 years, Leitch has rewarded our loyalty by telling us, too bad, no refund for you.

There was a time the company could be trusted. No more. We are switching to another HVAC company.
