Macular Degeneration
Depending on their age, risk of disease and overall physical condition, patients should be seen by their doctor for a comprehensive eye exam every one to three years, Children should have regular tests to ensure the proper development of their vision and prevent any interference with their academic achievements. Older adults are often at a higher risk for eye conditions such as glaucoma, macular degeneration and cataracts. Even if your eyes are healthy, you should have a regular eye examinations to detect any symptoms as soon as possible so that you may begin necessary treatment.
Laser Eye Surgery
Since starting his practice, Dr. Steinberg has grown his patient base from 0 to over 40,000. He currently personally performs over 1000 surgeries per year and specializes in personalized care. He understands that not everyone uses their eyes in the same ways and takes the time to personally tailor surgical outcomes with his patients to align to their lifestyle. Cataracts
A cataract is a cloudy area in the normally clear lens in the front of the eye. They are not a film over the eye and they are not caused by "overusing" the eyes -- rather, they are caused by a chemical change of unknown origin in the eye. They cause blurred or distorted vision.
Cataract Surgery
Dr. Steinberg offers the most modern no shot, no stitch, no patch cataract surgery and features the Symfony Extended Depth of Focus, Tecnis® multifocal and Toric lens implants. Patients are able to resume all normal activities the next day. Procedures are conveniently performed at the Central New York Eye Center in Poughkeepsie and St. Luke's Hospital.
Eye Exam
Clear vision and healthy eyes are important not only to a child's overall health and well-being, but also directly related to their academic performance in school. While vision screenings given at a child's school each year may identify children who are at risk for problems with their vision, vision screenings do not test the overall health of the child's eyes. A professional eye examination, performed by a certified eye doctor, tests vision while also evaluating the child's eyes for more serious conditions and diseases.

Dr. Steinberg grew up in the Hudson Valley. He graduated from Clarkstown North High School in New City as a national merit scholar. He went on to obtain his bachelor's degree in Biochemistry at Rice University in Houston, Texas. While at Rice, he was awarded the Roy Scholarship for Excellence in Science. He then received his medical education at SUNY Stony Brook on Long Island. During medical school, he was elected into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society, which recognized the top ten percent of medical students nationwide. From there he proceeded to internship in Internal Medicine at Danbury Hospital in Connecticut.

MRI
If pseudotumor cerebri is suspected, eye exams, visual field tests, and MRI and CT scans may be performed to confirm a diagnosis. A lumbar puncture (spinal tap) may also be administered to measure glucose and protein levels and intracranial pressure.
