The Medical/Surgical Unit of Sierra View Medical Center is a 77-bed department that is dedicated to general inpatient care. Med/Surg patients are hospitalized for a variety of medical diagnoses as well as recovery from surgical operations. Our Med/Surg Department also includes seven beds with specialized pediatric care capabilities.
Primary Care
The AHC functions similarly to other physician offices and outpatient clinics. GME Residents are available to see patients who do not have a primary care physician and need to establish with one. Patients who are established with a primary care physician can also be seen for timely hospital follow-ups if their provider does not have a soon enough appointment. Patients would be seen by a GME resident for the follow-up appointment and then referred back to their provider for further care.

As a full-service health care center, Sierra View provides treatment for patients who are critically ill or injured. Most of our critical care patients are transferred to our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) from our Emergency Department or are post-operative patients recovering from major and emergency surgeries.

As a triple-board Certified Cardiologist, by the American Board of Internal Medicine, he performs a variety of interventional cardiac procedures at Sierra View Medical Center, Kaweah Delta, and Bakersfield Heart Hospital.

Dr. Gaurang Pandya, MD representing District 2, has served as a Sierra View Local Healthcare District Board of Director since 2012 and has been active in the community for more than 30 years. Dr. Pandya volunteered for Active Military Duty after his surgery residency and became certified with the American Board of Surgery. He then relocated to Porterville and began his private General Surgery Practice in 1988.

Our 35-bed facility serves medically fragile patients who are no longer in need of acute hospital care, but still require a higher level of support than that of a traditional skilled nursing facility. Our specialty is caring for the ventilator dependent patients and those that require 24/7 Respiratory Therapy. Our dynamic services include, but is not limited to, intravenous therapy, provision of nutrition via tube feeding, and complex wound care.
