Frankie's Kitchen

Frankie's Kitchen is incredible...everything is hand-breaded, cut up and cooked or baked by Frankie herself, with able help from husband Joe, a former Port A boat captain. Both are long-time Port A residents and know everyone so there's a family feel to place. Joe, as a former fishing boat captain, knows whereto get the freshest shrimp, and Frankie handbreads them for wonderful fried shrimp (not greasy!) and shrimp quesadillas, even shrimp omelets! You've got to come early to try Frankie's homemade style banana pudding and extraordinary lime cheesecake and carrot cake...I've seen customers come in and buy whole cakes to enjoy later! Frankie also fixes delicious shrimp, chicken and dumplings, barbeque, meatloaf, and other daily specials. Unlike many places on the island, Frankie's serves breakfast all day and daily offerings include wonderful fluffy pancakes with fresh fruit, thick, goopy French toast!!!, breakfast tacos...you name it! The only problem is that kitchen is only open 7 a.m. to around 3 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sundays as Frankie's Kitchen is just getting started. It's a small cozy place easy to find right in the heart of Port Aransas, right down the sidewalk from Shorty's and Bernie's and across the street from the Tarpon Inn (be sure to see the tarpon scales signed by famous people at the inn).
