Nice Guy Movers

I usually move everything myself with the help of family and friends, but I tore a ligament in my ankle recently and was advised against any sort of strenuous movement or heavy lifting. So, regrettably, I went in search of a mover. We were on a bit of a budget, so when I saw Nice Guy Movers’ quote, I was pleasantly surprised.



You get what you pay for, I guess….



1) They broke our 42-inch plasma TV. The thing had survived two cross-country moves, so this was no small feat, yet they somehow managed it. I was asked to fill out the insurance claim paperwork for it then and there, but at no point did my wife or I receive an apology.



2) Without asking, they completely disassembled our bed, which was moved into the apartment in one piece and which we would have told them not to do, had they asked. Also, there were three of them, but only ONE worked on taking the bed apart while the rest just stood around watching him. They obviously were taking it apart in the first place to add more time to their invoice--I have no problem with companies that charge by the hour, but there really should be a clause somewhere in every contract that requires contracted workers to complete a job in significantly less time than it would take the client to do on his own, given the same equipment. I actually had to pick up parts of the bed and start carrying them downstairs myself (which was very painful, given my ankle) to motivate them to go faster.



3) We arrived at the storage facility to which our furniture was being moved at 10:00 (they had arrived at our apartment at 8:30). Instead of beginning to unload immediately, however, they asked us to pay them in full for the total cost PLUS an additional two and a half hours--through 12:30--to unload. We refused, saying that it wasn't going to take 2.5 hours to unload everything (when they had gotten it down three stories, into the truck, and about ten miles across town in 90 minutes) and protesting that we were being ripped off, but this was no use, and they essentially held our furniture hostage and threatened to take it back to its point of origin. After a great deal of dispute (including with their manager on the phone, who was one of the rudest people with whom I have ever interacted in customer service), we resolved to have the movers just unload everything in the parking lot, paid the final bill of about $100 over what we were quoted (as opposed to several hundred), and MOVED THE FURNITURE INTO THE STORAGE UNIT OURSELVES.



4) When my wife became REASONABLY upset at the movers for a) breaking our television, b) moving slowly and finding ways take longer, c) holding our possessions hostage, and d) trying to grossly overcharge us, the foreman said to me, "You need to control your woman." Maybe it’s just a cultural difference in that I don’t think of or treat my wife as I would a dog like some men in other cultures do, but whatever—it’s still an insolent thing to say, and I certainly took offense to it being said.



So, in summary: We overpaid for our move when it took less time than estimated in the quote, had to move the furniture into our storage unit ourselves, were insulted by the foreman and his sarcastic and condescending manager, and had about a thousand dollars worth of personal property ruined.



I’m sticking with U-Haul from now on. I’m sorry I ever had to stray.



Do not go with this company. You will regret it.

Don't be a statistic, you will lose time, money and patience

From the moment we call them the first time we felt right there in the best hands possible. Our sales rep was really cool and so were the movers, they really showed skill and had a great attitude the whole way through. We couldn’t have asked for more. We were happy to pay our bill and tip them generously, they surely disserve it.

Well my move really surpassed my expectations, even though they weren’t very high to begin with- These guys just handled my move like it had been their own stuff they were handling . My possessions arrived on time and the price didn’t exceed the quote I was given. So in general my move was fantastic.

My move involved four locations and three elevators. These guys did a great job. They got to the first location early, got back to the City in good time and moved stuff from one place to another without any complaints. They were very careful when moving some large pieces, kept the flow going and did not waste any time. It turned out to be a seamless and efficient move, thank you Nice Guy Movers.

These guys are top notch. Professional, punctual, courteous, efficient, strong, quick, trustworthy and priced-well. Everything you want from your mover. They had no problems with heavy stuff, and even enjoyed some of the challenges that my new building presented to them- like a too narrow doorway to the main bedroom. The guys from Nice Guy movers helped me move to a new apartment and made the experience as stress-free and pleasant as possible (in some difficult circumstances). They were courteous, efficient, extremely helpful and fair in their pricing. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

There was nothing else we could have asked for during our move. Efficient fast, and damage free, these guys are worth their price, we would recommend to anyone and definitely hire again if we need to move again.

These guys were great. My sales rep Carrie was awesome as well. Very nice and available as well as informative. Dependable movers that work fast at a reasonable rate; that’s all I could ask for.

There’s nothing I can complaint about, this was probably the coolest move I’ve experienced, nothing broken, really fast and seamless. I will definitely hire Nice guy movers again!!!
