How does your builder become a really good friend by the end of the job? It only happens when the work is superb, and that's what RIchard Ward Builders is all about. Rick was recommended by a couple we know - people who had a beautiful kitchen thanks to his remodeling efforts. But, the design was much more modern than my taste, and I wondered whether he could help create a look that was right for my home. He and his crew did just that, and years later, we are still receiving compliments about its open, airy feel. He worked with us to make it ideal in terms of use and beauty - and I absolutely couldn't be happier. Rick stayed precisely within the budget, on schedule and left the house spotless. We loved the work so much that we asked him to renovate two bathrooms over the past several years. Again, he scored big on both form and function. I've lived in several homes and have worked with numerous people on home improvement projects and I have never met someone as reliable, honest, knowledgeable and friendly as Rick. I never even bother to bid out projects anymore - I just wouldn't consider anyone else at this point. He's that good.

My wife and I contemplated for several years an extensive and relatively expensive remodel of our kitchen. We had installed an in-ground pool and large pool deck and landscaped area that covered about 1/5 of an acre to the back and side of our house in the area of our elevated kitchen and formal dining room. The dining room had only one window and we could only see a small part of the pool, etc. through that window. We could barely see these additions from the kitchen sink area and although we could see better from the breakfast nook area, the sight lines were tolerable at best in light of the substantial investment we had made. We also wanted to improve the sight lines between our kitchen area and our family room because the family room, kitchen and dining room extended completely across the back of our home. Over the course of several years, we contacted several successful and highly regarded remodelers, and we were pleased with their visions, insights and suggestions for remodeling our kitchen and dining room area to achieve better views of the pool area from the elevated kitchen and dining room. We had begun the process with Richard Ward Builders and had later involved the other remodelers as part of our "due diligence" effort and to make certain what we had in mind made economic and esthetic sense. Of course, we also were trying to see if we could find an even better fit for us in all respects. While all of the remodelers had great ideas and plans for improving our situation, Richard Ward Builders always seemed to have a better understanding and appreciation of what we were trying to accomplish. In other words, Richard Ward Builders listened to what we wanted, made suggestions that would improve upon our vision without smothering it, and helped us achieve the feel, look and character we wanted rather than what Richard Ward Builders or a designer wanted. Richard Ward Builders guided us and helped us avoid mistakes we might not realize were looming, while at the same time not being a dictator. That process allowed us to realize that Richard Ward Builders helped us recognize and implement the best design ideas for our space and our goals. We had decided to remove the wall separating the kitchen and dining room to improve the view of the pool area. The design ideas from Richard Ward Builders included the addition of extra and new windows to maximize the view of the pool area and techniques to tie the old dining room to the new kitchen space by adding similar design elements to both. Richard Ward Builders demonstrated that one of its strongest suits, in addition to quality work and the use of quality material, is the ability to listen, understand, communicate well and deliver on a shared vision of the project. Having the project delivered as promised, when promised and at the price promised for the original work requested was icing on the cake. And the follow-up since the project was completed to finalize minor punch list items and address questions or minor issues that typically arise in connection with remodeling projects has been equally refreshing.
