Dr. Heather Bellanger was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest but has lived in Texas since 1994. She attended Texas A&M for her undergraduate studies and received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology. She received her medical degree from UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Dr. Bellanger remained at UT Southwestern to complete her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Parkland Memorial Hospital.

Endometriosis
Endometriosis is one of the most common causes of debilitating pelvic pain in women, affecting up to 1 in 10 women. With endometriosis, the endometrial cells from the uterus's inner lining are found outside of the uterus, in the pelvis. These endometrial cells, also called implants, can spread and grow on the ovaries, fallopian tubes, bowel, and bladder. In rare cases, these cells can also be found outside of the pelvis.
Pelvic Pain
Most women experience pelvic pain at some point during their lifetime, whether from menstrual cramps, ovulation, or even intestinal irregularity. For most women, pelvic pain may persist for a few days and then resolve. However, in women with chronic pelvic pain, pelvic discomfort can occur daily and can interfere with their quality of life, sexual function, exercise, and general mood. Our Plano Women's Healthcare providers understand pelvic pain can be both uncomfortable and frustrating. Ovarian Cancer
A hysterectomy is a type of surgery in which your OB/GYN removes your uterus, with or without the cervix. In many cases, the fallopian tubes will be removed as well in an effort to lower the risk of ovarian cancer. However, a hysterectomy does not refer to removing the ovaries. Removal of the ovaries is a separate procedure, called an oophorectomy. An oophorectomy can be done at the same time as a hysterectomy and whether it should be done is determined by your age, family history, and clinical situation.

Minimally Invasive Surgery
Pain management, generally with NSAIDs such as ibuprofen or naproxen, and hormonal birth control are usually the first-line treatment options for endometriosis. This treatment is usually very effective, but if these measures do not provide relief, your OB/GYN may discuss other medication options and surgery. Our physicians at Plano Women’s Healthcare are well-versed in endometriosis treatment options, including minimally invasive surgery.

Dr. Feltman is a proud Texan, she grew up in Plano with her two brothers and parents. She spent her childhood playing soccer, watching football (Go Cowboys! and Hook ‘em Horns!), and keeping the peace between her two brothers. After graduating from the best university, University of Texas at Austin, she attended the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio for medical school. To continue the trend of attending Texas Universities, she completed her post-graduate training at Parkland Health & Hospital System/University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. When not practicing OB/GYN, Adrienne loves trying new restaurants, laying by the pool with a good book, baking brownies and cupcakes, and spending time with her family and friends. She is looking forward to starting a family with her husband, Adam, in their newly renovated home. Dr. Feltman loves delivering babies but also enjoys spending time doing robotic surgery and helping patients with family planning.
Hysterectomy
There are two types of hormone therapy: estrogen only or estrogen plus progestin. Estrogen plus progestin is used for women who have never had a hysterectomy and still have a uterus. Taking progestin reduces the risk of uterine cancer over taking estrogen alone.
Endometrial Ablation
Endometrial ablation is a non-invasive, hormone-free treatment that can decrease or stop heavy menstrual bleeding. It is recommended for women who suffer with heavy periods and have no desire for any future pregnancies. We will work with you to determine whether you’re a good candidate for the procedure and help you decide if it’s the best option for your particular needs.
Laparoscopy
The only way to definitively diagnose endometriosis is with a surgical procedure called a diagnostic laparoscopy. During this procedure, a small camera is placed in the abdomen and the pelvic organs are evaluated for signs of endometriosis. Most women can be treated for endometriosis based on exam findings and symptoms alone without the need for surgery. However, if other endometriosis treatments have not worked, your OB/GYN may suggest surgical options.

Bacterial vaginosis tends to cause a gray discharge and fishy odor that is caused by changes in pH and a lack of “good” bacteria, called lactobacilli, in the vagina. Yeast infections, on the other hand, are caused by an overgrowth of a type of fungus called Candida, which causes a thick yellow-white discharge, itching, and discomfort. Neither yeast nor BV is sexually transmitted; however, sexual intercourse may make these infections worse or cause them to recur. BV and yeast can clear up on their own, but it may take time. Therefore, if you’re experiencing symptoms, we highly recommend prompt testing and treatment.
