Hitch world

Had them install a trailer hitch on my 2002 Kia Sedonna 11 months ago. Shortly after, when the car was at my mechanics, he called to tell me that the hitch was installed so that it blocked the exhaust pipe and that my catalytic converter was fried. He showed me the set-up and said he couldn’t know if the failure was due to the new hitch, but that if nothing changed it would certainly ruin a new C.C. as well as melt the trailer wires due to the hitch becoming over heated from the exhaust. To save time, I had him reroute the tail pipe instead of returning to hitch world.



Once I finally got a chance to hook up my trailer, the turn signals didn’t work. Diagnosis with a multi-meter showed no signal coming from the plug installed by hitch world. When I pulled the tail light assembly I found two things: Two broken mounting grommets for the tail light assembly, which happens when a person removes the assembly by yanking it straight out instead of sliding it slightly toward the side (in this case the driver’s side) and then pulling. (That left only two screws holding the assembly in place instead of four securing points). Secondly the trailer signal light wires were hooked to the backup lights instead of the turn signals.



Bottom line: This install was screwed up in nearly every way possible and I would recommend incurring any inconvenience or expense necessary to have your hitch installed ANYWHERE else.

They installed a hitch for me at a good price. I really don't know what makes a hitch shop good or bad, but they were nice and affordable. I have been pulling my Catalina boat around and have not noticed any problems whatsoever.
