We went to Top Shelf because we had a coupon from our Entertainment book for a buy one, get one free entree. When we got to the restaurant, we hung out in the waiting area for a few minutes before the hostess came to seat us, but we enjoyed looking at the fish tank while we waited. Our waitress was nice and kept our drinks filled and the food was pretty good, but maybe a little pricey for the portions. When the bill came, we gave the waitress our coupon. She brought back the bill and our kid's meal was the one given to us free. When we asked, she said she tried to give us the second adult entree as the free meal, but the manager wouldn't let her. She then had the manager come talk to us, but he wouldn't budge on the matter. I have never been to a restaurant that considers a kid's meal to be an entree.

It seems this company is more concerned with making a couple bucks than good service that brings back return customers.

customer service/food

Just plain awful! You are seated at a dirty table while waiting for it to be cleaned...you look around and notice half of the staff on their cellphones or taking a cigarette break on the patio. Then...for your smoke infested server comes to "clean" your table by pushing the crumbs off your table to the floor! Food is over priced, and commercialized, served to you after it has been sitting under a heat lamp. Restrooms are filthy! Either no soap in one, or to use the other bathroom (one stall) in cantina...broken handle, hand written sign that specifies to "hold handle" to complete flush! Overflowing trashcan of paper products, no toilet paper or seat protectors! For a place that has other locations, I would go elsewhwere...Peoria. nevermind ordering a drink or refill...it will be another 30mins and my buzz will be gone!

The chips were excellent and lightly salted, crisp and warm. The Carne Asada Taco Plate arrived with 3 corn tortillas filled with Carne Asada meat. The meat was flavorful and tender. The tacos were messy to eat but otherwise delicious. The plate came with beans and rice as well. Everything arrived hot and plates were appropriately heated. The Lite Taco Rito was excellent, the best 400 calories we have ever tasted. The tortilla was filled with beans and covered with light cheese. There was a good helping of salad which was lightly dusted with cheese on the side. The plate was hot and the food tortilla was hot. The Apple Chimi was large and was definitely a good value. There were 2 chimi's filled with apple filling and deep fried. The filling the wonderful and hot - it was a great way to end our meal especially with the side scoop of ice cream, whipped cream on top and light dusting of cinnamon.

Chips were crispy and tasted fine with just the right amount of salt. The salsa was fresh and spicy and had a good consistency. The Beef Chimi with beans, rice, guacamole, salad and Pico de Gallo was served piping hot. The chimi was a good sized portion. The shredded beef inside was authentic tasting and moist. The soft tortilla was neatly wrapped and had a good amount of cheese melted on top. The beans were fresh and tasted authentic as did the rice. The rice was a little dry, but tasty. The guacamole was mild and fresh tasting, and the Pico de Gallo was fresh, cool, nice and spicy. The Shredded Beef Tacos were enjoyable. The shells were crispy and the beef was good. Rice and beans were ordered with it and were similarly prepared. The Sopapillas were visually appealing and delivered with chocolate, caramel and honey dips, a mountain of whipped cream, and a cherry. They were lightly sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. The taste was delicious, crispy on the outside and doughy on the insi

The Iced Tea was ice cold and smooth. Our server kept the glass filled. The SOS Peach Margarita was very tasty and smooth. The chips were crisp and fresh, but the salsa had lots of kick. The Combo #1 had a Cheese Enchilada with the cheese flowing out when we cut into the enchilada. It was a very cheesy taste. The Beef Taco had a good portion of beef. The Tamale was excellent with a nice texture and not spicy and the Burrito Fundido was excellent. When asked if it was spicy, our server said it was pretty mild but suggested getting the cream cheese jalapeo sauce on the side. We appreciated that. The Apple Chimi was ordered for dessert. It was warm and delicious with ice cream on the side. Overall, we very much enjoyed our drinks and meal and the dining experience was very nice. The food was good and the staff was friendly. We would definitely consider eating at Top Shelf again.

Good Food, But........

We used the Entertainment Book to try this restaurant. My wife had the shredded beef tacos and I had cheese enchiladas. Both were very good. The salsa were excellent and the service was good. Before you order Mexican beer to go with that great food, check the price. I didn't realize I was in North Scottsdale. Over $4.00 a bottle. BS!!!!!
