Yes! We recommend seeing your family dentist at least every 6 months for a thorough cleaning and examination while undergoing orthodontic treatment.

Teeth Cleaning

Dentures
Maxillary wrap-around retainers are your upper retainers, which are removable. You must be very careful when handling your upper retainers, as they are fragile and costly to replace. You are given a special case for your retainer; please make sure you keep them in this case when not wearing it! To clean these retainers, brush them with toothpaste (sometimes with denture cleaner) using warm water.

Following a treatment plan worked in cooperation with the dentist and oral surgeon, the patient wears braces and visits the orthodontist for adjustments in preparation for surgery. Once the teeth are positioned according to the plan, orthognathic surgery will reposition the jaws, and the teeth will properly fit into a good bite. Orthognathic surgery is performed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon in a hospital. It can take several hours, depending on the amount and type of surgery needed.
