Fannie Mae was established in 1938 under President Franklin D. Roosevelt to expand the flow of mortgage funds in all communities under all economic conditions, and to help lower the costs to buy a home. The company maintains a staff of more than 5,700 employees. Fannie Mae maintains one of its regional offices in Philadelphia.
