Perry Street Lofts

Moved into the building in June after relocating to the Richmond area. My girlfriend and I were looking for a nice building- but couldn't afford the Richmond rents. Perry Street Lofts is a great value. Paul (the manager) was very helpful with my move-in. He even gave my girlfriend a tour of the unit on facetime when she was out of town.

This probably the best example of the worst management of properties in Virginia. I have live here in the building for three years seen more drugs, empty booze bottles, dog crap, poor customer than in all my rental experiences. There are so many change on monthly basis it is nearly impossible to calculate any of your expenses. They tow residents on weekends and don't reimburse the cost. It is truly a nightmare, and they DO NOT CATER TO MILITARY NEEDS. Mt lease "automatically" renewed because they don't recognize deployments as unique resident situation. The first chance I get I am done with this place.

The apartment is very nice and has all bills included except for electricity. There is a workout center which is nice also, but lots of machines do not work. The walls are very thin and You will hear your neighbors and people talking in hallway. We hear everything our upstairs neighbors do. I feel the rent (the price we signed up under) is reasonable. *** If you are not from Virginia or this area, you should realize this complex is located in Petersburg, which in past has been known for having high crime. I have been approached by drunk/homeless men just outside complex. They asked for money and did no harm, but this makes me uncomfortable.



We signed a lease under the previous management company and with a manager who no longer is here. They are honoring our lease conditions with previous management company. We were told incorrect information by a manager, which this new company can not honor. This company and leasing office is very much aware of that problems with previous manager but is not doing anything to help resolve issue. I understand this but we bare the financial burden and this frustrates me to no end.



If you are a pet owner, I would absolutely positively NOT recommend this complex. The fee for pets is not reasonable and this complex offers nothing for pets. There is no grass around this building. Everything is mulched and every bit of the mulched area has dog poop all over it. Pet owners do not clean up after their pets. College kids live here and break bottles everywhere .... All over the parking area and along the entrances where you must walk to let your pets out to go potty. I have even gone out to sweep these areas for the interest of my pets and all the the fur kids around here. Also, in mulched area, there are a ton of hosta plants which are attractive but ARE NOT animal friendly. These plants are very poisonous to both dogs and cats. Take my advice and go elsewhere if you have pets.



Update to review: we are moving out and the elevator does not work. This is not a rare occurrence. They do not work much of the time. Too bad we are in the basement with very heavy furniture that we physically can't lift up the stairs. It would be so nice, if management was not cheap/lazy and would fix this. This elevator has not worked for almost two weeks on this particular time (been out several times in the few months that I have lived here). I have reached my last straw with this apartment. This place is a mess and I can't recommend it. This apartment loves to advertise they have granite and a fitness center but perhaps a working elevator (especially on moving day) would be an even greater amenity. Don't make the same mistake I did.
