I came across your place while looking for a catering company.
I am very concerned regarding the words you wrote................'it is less stressful when you have competent employees doing the job they are supposed to be licensed for'.........................STOP RIGHT THERE. Are you telling me your previous employees were doing things to me and they did not have a license to do so????????????
I'm taking this from your comment made on 8/25/09 in response to Brendaage26.
Brenda and Em made valid points, you do let your personal life interfere in your business and you do yell and talk about others. I thought I was one of your confidants, but apparently not.
I don't know what to make of the postings I read.

I just want to say how happy Ive been with my hair ever since I started going to A Cut Above Salon. I travel around alot with my husband's job and have to find a new hairstylist everytime we move. Monique is a top notch colorist and hairstylist and I will miss her when we leave next year, I wish I could take her with me. I have always had a wonderful and relaxing experience there and hope that I can find a place just as enjoyable at our new location next year. If you need a stylist that will listen to what you want and give you great color advice, Monique at A Cut Above is the girl to see.

What started as a possibly top notch salon/spa has turned in to the 'salon/spa from h@#%' .
The owner talks about her troubled personal life loud enough for all clients and employees to hear. The owner bad mouths her employees to her clients, attempts to correct her employees' work when the client is quite satisfied, and, from what I understand, the spa/salon is now going to be the family's home with only hair services done in an addition on the back of 'her home'. The salon no longer offers facials, pedicures, manicures or massages.
Needless to say, I recently changed to a new salon.
I would like to respond to your review by first saying you are correct on the fact that we are downsizing our business. We will still be offering incredible hair care services, specializing in Color, Waxing services, Facials, Permanant Make-up, Last tinting and curling, and Make-up Application with our wonderful Jane Iredale Cosmetics. Our Salon is now located in the back part of the building and occupies 1100 square feet of service area. I'm very pleased with the changes that we have made and must say it is alot less stressful when you have compitent employees to do the work that they are suppose to be licensed for, which I have now and things couldnt be better!!!

I've been a client of the owner of A Cut Above for years, beginning back when she worked for a salon perhaps on commission. I followed her to her new business. I am tiring of the tension in the air as the owner talks behind her employees backs to clients. And shouts orders loud enough to her employees all in the shop can here. It is very uncomfortable. I am seriously thinking about changing salons simply for these reasons.
The services there are GREAT. Wonderful work. But the tension can be cut with a knife.
Im sorry I didnt see this sooner and I would have responded sooner. First I must apologize if I ever made you or anyone else feel uncomfortable in my Salon, especially since we have had a relationship for a while(so it seems from your review) Employee changes have been made as well as Salon changes have been made and things are so much better now and will continue to get better. From your review I see that you were happy with the services, not the atmosphere, well Im happy to say again that things are more relaxed then ever. In conclusion, if you would like to come back and enjoy our services again we would be happy to see you. Sincerly, Monique

I have had the pleasure of being a customer of Monique Le Clair's for over 10 years. I was quite pleased to find when I moved to Pensacola in 2001, that her husband's Naval career had brought her here as well. I have watched A Cut Above Salon and Spa grow into the salon it is today. I have utilized all services that are offered and have always been pleased. I have also recommended this salon to several of my friends and they also enjoy their visits to A Cut Above Salon and Spa. I know that customer service and satisfaction is a top priority for Monique and her staff. I HIGHLY recommend A Cut Above Salon and Spa.

I went to this salon after searching the web. Tired of never getting the same hairstylist twice at the budget salon, I decided to pay 4 times more in the hopes of finding a great, consistent stylist. Although the stylist who cut my hair looked on the internet and in magazines to see the Lisa Rinna cut I wanted, and assured me we would go slow so the cut wasn't too short, the first cut in was too short. It's a good cut done with a razor, it feels good and will hopefully look better once it grows out. My stylist took a personal cellphone call as she cut my hair, a pet peeve of mine. I got an itchy scalp that I can only trace back to the shampoo used. If you are allergic to botanicals, speak up. Know exactly what you want and bring a picture if possible.
