Aztecas Mexican Grill

Not only this place overpriced but it exudes cheapness in every way shape and form. If it were up to me I would totally boycott every Mexican restaurant that did the same as Aztecas.



On the menu is printed that chips and salsa are not free unless you order a meal $5 or over. There is a bunch of rigid combinations - one beef enchilada, one chili releno, one taco etc with NO SUBSTITIONS and NO REFRIED BEANS OR RICE for say 6 or 7 bucks. Note: Any Mexican restaurant that does not give rice and beans with its combo automatically is a rip off. Rice and beans cost like 30 cents to make. Azteca charges $2 for each side if you order them a la carte (Or if they don't come with your meal and like me find that the 3 watery, greasy, and nearly identical enchiladas/burritos/tacos aren't enough to eat alone.) The place is way overpriced for being in Pell City - any lunch and drink combo will set you back at least $7 or 8 not including tax or a tip. I don't know about the people who stop in there but $10 for lunch is a lot for most people, especially in Pell City - accordingly I expect to get my money's worth.



The drinks are WATERED DOWN. I had two diet cokes and they both were watery. I had to ask the guy if the refills were free because I was worried that he would double charge me.



I asked about the enchiladas and the man said they are ground beef which was 5.50 with rice and beans for lunch (one of the few good deal combos that i happened to spot). I wanted steak ones and was willing to pay for the upgrade (an extra buck or so) but he strictly enforced the no substitions rule and pointed to the same on the dinner menu for $9.50. I told him no way.



If you want good Mexican try Cocina in Birmingham. Otherwise stick with American food and support our homegrown. Azteca's is not worth the time, money, or upset stomach.

Love the margaritas there. Go there every Friday with my friends for a drink. Server was funny and cute. Enjoy it everytime we are there. Though, a lil wait for my food.
