Lake Shore Family Dental

I had a cracked tooth that went critical on me. It was infected and causing a lot of pain. The time for an extraction had come.

I called Lake Shore Family Dental (https://www.smilepasadena.com/) at around 11:30 AM, and I was in a chair by about 2:30 PM.

Gretchen, the young lady who works reception, was great. She and the practice accommodated my privacy concerns. The short of it is, I don't share my data. I refuse to be "the product", I refuse to be classified, and I refuse to be part of another data breach. I know I am not easy to work with in this area.

My technician was a young lady named Joy (if I recall correctly). She took the X-ray for the doctor. She was a very good conservationist as we waited for the doctor. She must be a saint if she put up with me for the 15 minutes or so we waited. (Remember, this was an unscheduled visit).

My doctor was Dr. Lam. Dr. Lam was incredibly proficient and patient with me. He immediately numbed the gum line, and then waited before the awful needle. He waited an adequate amount of time before extraction to ensure the area was numb. Extraction occurred without incident.

It was very enjoyable speaking with Dr. Lam. He was happy to talk about his training at University of Maryland. We also had some fun speaking about student loan debt that crushes graduates in the US's pursuit of the commoditization of its students and college grads.

I really enjoyed the practice, and speaking with Gretchen, Joy and Dr. Lam. I would highly recommend the practice and Dr. Lam to folks looking for an exceptional experience at the dentist office.

I have been a patient of Dr Hong for over 10 years. His attention to detail is second to none. And this carries over to the way the practice is run: I have NEVER had to wait more than 5 minutes to be seen! The whole team is so courteous and kind. Best Ever.

This dental office charged me to adjust the bite on a tooth they preformed a core build up on two weeks prior. I have never been charged by any other dentist or even this office themselves to have a tooth they worked on corrected. I assume because they knew we were not coming back anymore they want to try to get any money they can from us or our insurance company. Not very ethical in my humble opinion. There are always discrepancies in the billing and the office can never tell you exactly what it is or was you were charged for. The office girls constantly mess up appointment times. They preform services and use materials that your insurance will not cover with no prior warning that it may not be covered. Many people write good reviews of this dentist but I cannot.
