Southeast Christian Church

My family and I attended Southeast Christian Church for about 3 years. Frankly, we were disappointed. It was run more like a large corporation than a loving and caring church family. They controlled their members by forming small groups (i.e., cliques) and, if you weren't part of one, you were tolerated but not part of the "in" crowd. Everything revolved around money and growth rather than teach The Word of God.

The first time I walked into Southeast Christian Church I felt peace and warmth from God's love. I hadn't been to church in over 7 years at the time I first walked through the doors and wasn't sure what to expect, but when I first walked in, I was greeted warmly and was shown around the church with my family. The greeter even helped walk us through the steps of signing our children up for their classes. The sermon was lively and informational, but more importantly, I felt as if God was speaking directly to me through the words of the pastor. I now call this church home.

I loved the idea of have a church close so I tried South East. I didn't like the judgment automatically happening when I walked in. I had been to concerts here and love the variety of things going on, but for the root (church) I was disappointed! I attended an Easter service and that drew such a crowd. But the message prepared was not in depth and I felt that it was 'sermon in vain' for all the people who only come once a year having a hope to find something that moves them. With all the audience all the more reason to bring a big message. So many are lost and need to be fed not just feel good. Yet another service they really had a message that ran deep! At the end of this sermon about 'becoming free' I think; they had people holding up a sign that said what God had set them free from. A whole line of people and some slow soft music played as they walked front and center people clapped. That sent me to tears and hit the crowd hard because everyone struggles in this world. That's the messages I want to get out of a church on a consistent basis something that moves people! Unfortunately at South East I feel I'm not consistently getting fed enough and wish it were different. Maybe someday.
