Spine Pain Diagnostics Associates is pleased to offer MRI-compatible neurostimulators. MRI scans allow physicians to make a wide range of health diagnoses by viewing highly detailed images of internal organs, blood vessels, muscle, joints, tumors, areas of infection and more. MRI uses strong magnetic fields and radio frequency pulses to create images of structures inside the body. While CT scans are used for imaging hard materials in the body, like bones, MRI scans are used to image soft tissue which is why MRI has become a standard of care in enabling the detection and treatment of serious medical conditions, including cancer, stroke and a variety of orthopedic conditions and neurologic conditions, such as chronic pain.
Chemotherapy
Neuropathic pain can occur when trauma or disease causes injury to the nerves, or when dysfunction of the sensory nerves occurs and signals along the nerves misfire, resulting in pain. This injury and dysfunction can also result in pain being felt without reason, such as in the case of the amputation of a limb resulting in phantom limb pain. Other trauma or disease that causes neuropathic pain include alcoholism, stroke, chemotherapy, diabetes, spine surgery, shingles, MS, etc.

Sciatica
Sciatica is the term used to describe pain that radiates from the lower back down the legs along the sciatic nerve. Most people who experience sciatica are affected on only one side of their bodies. Sciatica most commonly occurs among people in their 40’s or 50’s, and affects men more often than women. Other risk factors include obesity, prolonged sitting, and diabetes.
Whiplash
Neck pain can also be due to injury, such as whiplash, or illness, such as meningitis. Disc degeneration and arthritis can contribute to neck pain as well. In some cases, more serious issues, such as cancer or tumors, are at play.

Physical Therapists

Physical Therapy
Various medications, including antidepressant and antiseizure medication, have been used to treat neuropathic pain. Other treatments include physical therapy, counseling, relaxation, massage, and acupuncture. Some neuropathic pain is curable, and once the underlying cause is treated, the peripheral nerves may regenerate, though this process could take months or longer.
