Overall

Love the HOT POT there, the soup base was really tasty just like the ones I had back in China long time ago. They had a wide variety items to put in it. I will come back it whenever I visit Orlando again.

Piece of advise!! - Stay away from The Orlando Dining Asian Buffet - International Drive Florida, ... 6532 Carrier Drive Orlando, FL 32819.



The food was BAD! BAD! BAD!



The rice was old and stale, and the meat was left over from three days or longer.



At all cost, avoid this restaurant, I don't want to say, I told you so!



PS, I would rate this restaurant a triple -0.

Stay away from this buffet for your health!

Following an unplesant visit to this establishment, I have filed the report below, in which I have listed the unsanitary state of this restaurant, to the pertiinent agency in Florida:



This report concerns the stale and apparently unsafe food served at the restaurant, conducting business under the name "Asian Buffet" at 6532 Carrier Drive off International Driver in Orlando, Florida, from a visit at 12:15PM on November 11, 2010.



The hot and sour soup that I began with was hot and tasted fine. The problem began with the deep-fried battered shrimp, whose batter was rock hard and the shrimp within a piece of rubber. The peel-and-eat shrimp, once peeled and tried, tasted rancid. The boiled egg, served cut in half, from the salad bar, had an exterior smell of a poorly-vented fridge, which deterred me from exploring its interior with my taste bud. The fried dumpling (called "gyoza" in Japanese), meant to be served hot, was cold and hard on the outside. The fried rice appeared coated with a layer of grease. The pot of steamed rice, placed at the end of the dessert table, was cold, and was about 1/3 filled with the rock-hard content from the night before. On approaching the counter to advise the waitress of the problem, she handed me the bill. On advising her of the issue she asked me to wait for the boss.



The "boss" came out of the kitchen, took a glance at me, and went over to inspect the food for a minute. Then, rather unwillingly, he approached me at the cashier counter where, on hearing the problem immediately said that if my goal was to not pay for my meal, I should have notified the waitress as soon as I had discovered the problem. He then went on to say paying a few dollars in life should not be made an issue, as he, being philosophical in his outlook and being the generous man that he is, routinely fork out $5 to beggars with "Homeless and Hungry" signs at freeway exits. He then said that he really was not the boss, and left me with his his waitress, with a look on her face as if to say "Please pay, or else I would get into trouble." I added that payment was not the issue; the safety of his food was, and so would he not be moved at all if I reported the matter to the pertinent licensing authorities and presented the condition of his food on restaurant review blogs. The waitress called him back and relayed this info to him; he shook his head and indicated that there was nothing he could do about this.



The entire transaction was conducted in Mandarin Chinese, one of the few languages in which I am fluent. This was because within earshot was a table of diners, some of whom seemed to show great bystander interest in "juicy details" as I approached the cashier, looking rather unhappy. It was I who had decided to commence the interaction in that language in order to keep the matter low-key but, much more importantly, to ensure that everyone in the restaurant's operation clearly understood the problem. The $6.99+tax=$7.45 bill was paid with a credit card of mine, whose issuer I may or may not be contacting for transaction voiding, but the more important issue here is food safety, in that this restaurant's kitchen personnel appears to be poorly trained in the refrigeration of the food that it intends to re-serve a day later, which is why I have elected to report this incident to you.

Given the deplorable condition of the food, apologies and the willingness to not charge me for this inedible meal would have been the only course of acceptable action for the management to take. Unfortunately, as I have reported, the waitress and the man who came out to speak with me were unified in their accusation that I had not notified them earlier and refused to waive the charge. No apology was given for the state of the food, which leads me suspect that it is the norm that they regard as acceptable.
