Vaccination
Prevention is certainly the best medicine. We would rather keep your pet well than have to treat it for illness. Annual physical exams and vaccinations play a critical role in our preventive philosophy.
Veterinary Ophthalmology
Dr. Taplett, originally from southwest Minnesota, completed her undergraduate degree at South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD. She received her DVM from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. Dr. Taplett has special interest in ophthalmology. She and her husband, Jeff, have a daughter, Avery, and a cocker spaniel named Mia.

Veterinary Surgery
The Gentle Doctor Animal Hospital offers full-service medical care for your pet. Our services include well-visits, surgery, dentistry, radiology, endoscopy, ultrasound, orthopedic surgery as well as referral surgical procedures.
Declawing
Addressing excess skin folds in Shar Peis and other loose-skined breeds can greatly reduce the occurence of skin infections, and surgery on breeds with protruding eyes, such as pugs, can reduce eye irritation and infection. Most of these procedures, along with declawing for cats, can be done with minimal hospital stays and a regimine of at-home care. Surgeries of the organs, skin and musculature are commonly referred to as "soft tissue" procedures. These can range from removal of a swallowed foreign object, to spaying and neutering, to more complicated tumor excision and cardiac treatments.

We process routine blood work, including heartworm tests, in house while you wait. Other tests are performed at an outside laboratory for the most comprehensive analysis and accurate results. Testing for parasites, feline immune virus (FIV), feline leukemia and bacterial cultures are all accomplished in our labs.
X-Ray
Dental Radiology
We believe pets deserve human-quality medical care. We offer the most extensive advanced veterinary diagnostics in the Omaha area. When physical exams and laboratory analysis aren't conclusive, scans offer a minimally invasive path to diagnosis and can help delay surgical interventions. Our experts perform fluoroscopy (moving X-rays) and CT scans (3D X-rays), along with all forms of endoscopy. We offer digital X-rays and digital dental X-rays, too.

General Pet Care

Boarding
Each of the Gentle Doctor locations also offers cat boarding, and our Grant and West Maple locations have private cat condos so our feline friends don't get annoyed by those barking dogs! Private rooms offer a bit higher temperature to keep cats cozy during the winter months.
