Never Again!

Went for a routine cancer screening. I ended up with a huge bill because, according to my highly rated insurance company, the doctor's office stafff used the wrong billing code. The doctor's office staff refused to correct it with the right procedure code or to provide a very simple statement to my insurance company that justified procedures in excess of what the coding was for.

The billing department said that they just could not do a thing about any of this
and then, instead of waiting for the insurance company to amend and override their own doctor's staff mistake, these folks turned it over to collections, inspite of repeated contacts with that billing department staff about the insurance reconsideration. The nurse assigned might benefit from learning some better 'people skills'. The doctor was extremely competent, but I will never see another associated with this hospital and/or doctors' group. If he went elsewhere, I would return to him in a heartbeat.

Perhaps a way to improve this would be to 1) ensure that associated doctors' staff
have appropriate training in medical coding, and 2) to have a procedure in place to interface between the doctor's staff and hospital billing department when such simple errors occur.

I wonder what they did with that second insurance check, which my insurance company sent electronically (that has been verified)-----The collections agency is still calling and sent me a letter recently stating that they are going to sue me.

DO NOT GO HERE. The Service is terrible and when I got the bill. I didn't have the money for it. I contacted them to make payment arrangements and they told me they don't do that. Then they sued me. Now I am getting 25% of my check garnished to go to these greedy unknowledgable people.

Deaconess Hospital 5501 N Portland Ave, Oklahoma City, OK

On 7/9/15 I had a endoscopy and colonoscopy.

When the nurse "Tina" gave me an IV she was not wearing any gloves, then she accidentally ripped the IV out, blood was going all over, she held her bare hand on my arm for pressure, She was going for another stick and I said no gloves? and she went to put a pair of gloves on and couldn't get them on for some reason and she said "oh well I have to die of something"

She is also the nurse that gave me the sedatives for my procedures.

Also of the three people in the procedure room I was the only one with a hair net on, none of them had any head attire or gloves.

I can only hope gloves were worn after I was knocked out.

My husband also witnessed the IV incident.

DO NOT go here if you want to have a natural birth! This is the worst medical staff I have ever been around and I work in the medical field. It is scary how unknowledgeable the RNs are, and Amy is horribly rude. The last person you want to be around when trying to give birth. STAY AWAY.

Deaconess used to be the best ...

Deaconess used to be the best hospital in the metro... Not anymore. It's pretty awful. Staff is overloaded and can't spend anytime with the patients. Everyone seems stressed out and in a rush. Tried to get a problem resolved but that was impossible, the floor manager was clueless and rude and so was the hospital supervisor. Our physician was great but she also quit working there and is now only affiliated with integris because of the hospitals decline in care. Won't go there again!

While I have no issue with the medical care that I received I DO have an issue with their accounting billing. I went in for a procedure and was told that my payment portion after insurance would be about $500 due on the day of the procedure. It had been preapproved from my insurance and I had met my insurance deductible for the year. I paid the 500. A month after the procedure, I began getting dunning notices for a FURTHER $500. I called and complained that they had "pulled the rug out from under me" that they had KNOWN what my insurance would pay. Of course that got nowhere. I paid the second $500 and STILL the account went to collections! I had to call twice to tell them to pull the account from collections that the bill was paid in FULL an I had THEIR EMAILED RECEIPT to prove it.

pretty good

The E.R wait during the week day afternoon was about ten minutes. Maybe we got lucky, but it was relatively fast. Its a very clean place and parking is good. The staff is friendly, lots of helpers to direct you if you need help. The doctors are very nice and caring. I gave one less star because the cafeteria had no real vegetarian alternative except a baked potato or spinach salad :\

This Hopital is a joke!!! I filed a complaint against them and they ruled in THEIR Doctors favor (Big Surprise!!!) Patient Advocacy is NON-EXISTENT. Be prepared to be kicked to the curb if they make a mistake. Lawsuit in-work.
