Wheels Skating Center

I don't agree with some of the reviews that I read. My kids and I love roller skating and really enjoy skating at Wheels. We like Ms Pam and Ms Lill and the teachers that work there during child care.
One of my kids was in the child care program for 3 years and we would still be there but their program doesn't pick up at middle school.
We still skate there on weekends and sometimes on Dollar Nite because it's a really good price.
I think people should go try it out for themselves and not believe junk that some people write on reviews.

Wheels Skating Center in Odenton, MD runs a highly unprofessional childcare service. They should stick to being a raggedy skating rink. It appears to be a family run business. The clientele are mostly minority but the owner is a racist white woman (based on my personal experience and other yelp review by Sherron W.) who does not have the decency to communicate with her customers. She sends her black helper to give feedback such as "My boss says...". My son was kicked out of the program without a formal notification. When I requested something in writing or a call explaining what happened; the owner would not respond to any calls, emails or messages. My son has special needs that I wasn't given any consideration about. Any professional childcare service would work with a parent unless the child did something harmful to themselves or others. They simply do not have the structure to handle any issues outside of children running around wildly. I once came to the facility and girls were being escorted to the bathroom because they were doing something inappropriately. Some of the bathroom stalls are without locks and the overall condition of the bathrooms is substandard.



Despite promises of a real childcare program. No homework gets done, my son was running around a filthy facility with no socks on and was given junk food for snack time. He busted his knee so badly once that he couldn't skate for weeks, initially it was not reported until I mentioned the injury. My son was bullied by students and nothing was done to address it. I had to give suggestions to prevent further abuse. I never made a big deal about the problems I saw, I simply had conversations with the assistant about my concerns. I did not realize that she was just a "front man" with absolutely no authority.



There is not much happening in Odenton in terms of recreation. The popularity of this smelly and outdated place, as entertainment, astounds me but where else is there to go? I have never seen such a shabby establishment with so many customers. My son loved skating and I needed care to work, so I used this facility reluctantly. The way kids run wild in there and the massive amount of traffic they have, I can't imagine what my son could have done that would warrant termination without a valid explanation. The most unprofessional act was refusing to give me my records that I provided. The only nice staff member is one of the bus drivers, it's pretty pathetic.

Dirty stinks owner is very rude disrespect full to minorities but love your green money. Never will go here again skate zone is a better skating rink

This is the worse skating rink in Maryland. I have never seen people treated so poorly in a long time. My 12 yr. old and her older sister went there today which is a Friday night for a school pta fun night. The children arrived at 7:15 paid and was let in only to be asked to leave out and stand in the cold to be readmitted at 7:30. When they reached the head of the line at 8:00 they were told to repay because the money they had paid at 7:15 was for another session which ended at 7:30. When I spoke to the manager she informed me this is not there fault and the school should have told all the students of the time frame of each session. My 12 yr. old paid and went back in but my older daughter didnt have enough money to go in and to be spitefull the manager told her to stand outside in the cold until her ride came back for her. When my 12 yr old heard this she asked for her money back to leave also and was told no becuase the money was going to the school. I feel they were disrectful to my children. the manager doesn't feel that her workers were being dishonest or deceitful by taking the money 15 min before the session ended and not telling the children about the time because that is the school responsablity. They are very distrusting place to have impressionable children or any pta functions.
