Do you have chronic heel pain? Pain in the bottom of your heel, more commonly referred to as Plantar fasciitis. The plantar fascia is a ligament that connects your heel to the front of your foot and helps supports your arch as you walk and thereby acts as shock absorber. Plantar fasciitis is a very common foot condition that occurs when this ligament experience more stress from activities in your daily life such as running, jumping or even walking on a hard surface or uneven ground. Too much pressure on your feet can damage or tear the ligament, causing. the plantar fascia to become inflamed. This inflammation causes thickness and tearing (intra-substance tears within the plantar fascia) and the formation of scar tissue resulting in chronic plantar fasciitis. Dr. Alan Bloch now performs a minimally invasive Tenex Procedure which is a gentle percutaneous (stab incision) procedure using ultrasonic energy. This fairly new innovative procedure helps remove diseased, inflamed scar tissue of the plantar fascia and allows restoration of natural soft tissue function. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia and has excellent results with limited downtime and early return to activities. Dr. Bloch has performed well over 100 of these procedures with excellent results and quick return to function.
