I like Vinny's food and took a friend there for a few beers, conversation and dinner. We arrived at 5:00 and wanted to chat so we did. We did order beers and had wonderful conversation. We ordered our meal and after the meal, no sooner had the owner brought us our boxes to box the leftover food he returned asking if we could pay because he had people with children waiting to eat. We looked around and saw no wait and two empty tables in our room. Besides that, we were not given an opportunity to order another drink or dessert or anything else. The attidude was okay, you've eaten, we've fed you, now get out. I was livid. After having put myself through college working at better and larger restaurants than Vinny's I told him that his behavior was rude and unacceptable. Customers are NEVER asked to leave their table for other customers. We were not drunk; had not sent back food; were normal, paying, ordering customers who, having waited tables before, were prepared to leave a good tip. He commented that we had been there since 5:00 and now that it was 7:00 we had to leave. Then when I told him exactly what I thought of his behavior he suggested I was overreacting. Not a chance, my friend. I will NEVER eat there again. The customer is to be treated with respect and if they decide to sit there all night, as long as they are ordering and behaving well, you NEVER ask them to leave. It was disgusting behavior and I am ashamed of the owner.
The information posted above by the lady isvery misleading and biased. The restaurant was very busy and the ladies were "table sitting" after dining. The ladies were polite and wonderful until it was mentioned that we were hoping to re-seat them at our bar so we might clear up a backlog of customers. Most patrons that see others waiting for their table get up voluntarily with out being asked. Only one of the ladies became excitedly rude at that point so she left ,along with her friend, who seemed embarrased by the first ladies behavior. We certainly felt bad about her extreme reaction but we did what was best for our waiting patrons. Hopefully we might at some point have a chance to make amends to this person even though we would still do the same if the situation repeated itself.
